Nspec owns a 2013 Viper GTS and the Z06. He says we can run them again, I'll drive the Z06 and he'll drive his Viper. That way, he gets to win, either way.
So, add that to the lineup of races I posted above.

I watched the video and the driver of the Z06 was shifting fine, the Viper is faster period in the real world as is the ZR1 and both probably by a good bit in a straight line and I have experience with both the Viper and the ZR1 and they can both dip well into the 10's in the 1/4 mile. I think you buy a Z06 because you like the car and all the engineering and technology improvements not because you want to hunt Vipers or ZR1's because if that's your goal your going to get your feelings hurt on the street and the track, any track not just the drag strip.

This. Some of you focus too much on the actual shifts, but aren't watching what happens while both cars are IN gear. The cars hang side by side until about the middle of 3rd gear. Then the Viper starts to pull ahead. In 4th gear, the Viper pulls away even harder. Definitely 4th gear is where the biggest difference occurs, regardless of where the shift happened.
Instead of paying attention to the car length(s) that the Corvette lost by, pay more attention to how both cars accelerate when in gear. Even if you found the best driver and he was able to shift like crazy, you can't overcome the Viper pulling away while in gear. A good driver doesn't defy physics and increase acceleration rates, he only makes the shift point quicker.
As for the original question, I have a few more willing candidates who are friends that want to make some videos. This won't happen this weekend, since we are going out of town to road race at COTA. But, maybe next week. This includes:
Another new Z06/Z07 (delivered today, excellent driver)
Another new Viper TA (400 miles on it, stock, newer driver)
My Viper TA (without alien or devine intervention modifications)
Stock ZR1 (excellent driver)
We will line all sorts of stuff up. Just be prepared, if the outcome isn't what you WANT to see. We'll report the good and the bad, however it works out.
Like we always do.

Still around, I just don't comment on the site much. I don't drag race as much but I do still do a little bit, I road race a lot now instead its a lot more fun and last longer! I see all the guys at Mir 2 or 3 times a year whether I take a car or not at the private rentals. I still have all my cars and stuff.

Now, will they beat Kyle's 10.66 pass in his C6 ZR1?
That I can't answer right now.
But I do believe that in good air at prepped track a few manual C7 Z06s will get into the 10s and that the automatics will even get a few tenths into the 10s as well, both at over 130mph.

I agree but must also add that a bone stock C7 Z06 will also dip well into the 10s in the 1/4 mile as well, at least the automatics will.

Turn 12!
Just use a "tuned only" Z06. So we dont run into any ECM timing heat issues. This would be fair. Otherwise, theres a hand tied being the Z06's back.
I will bet on the Z winning in this scenario.

Naw, fair would suggest a "tuned only" Vette racing a "tuned only" Viper.
We've seen what they both do with factory handcuffs, so both should be unlocked to be fair. And THAT should be an interesting race!

We are talking stock vs stock here. What people want to see, what magazines test, and so on. Comparing modded cars means nothing.
