It's simple guys. Remake the z06 vs viper video
It did make me think if it was staged. I thought the viper would get taxed hard. Then to see the other way around was shocking. Something does sound fishy. But its as simple as this. Someone with there z06 has got to know a group or a cars and coffee kind of spot to entertain a pull. Whether "the car wasn't built for this" or not. It has 650 hp and vettes have always been track, drag or highway pull monsters. Don't tell me this one isn't. That's an excuse. Either that viper was built or they sandbagged that z06 and the viper owner is just trolling. Or maybe it's true? Remake the video guys. Get out there and hunt down 911's, GTR's, Vipers, Ferraris, etc. I am a GTR guy by nature. But this z06 caught my eye and that's why I want one. Sorry for the ramble.

Take both the C7 Z06 and the viper to Daytona next April for the flatout motorsports HPDE and see what they can do.

How about this, newly registered Z06nick714.
YOU go purchase both vehicles in question. Get a good color for each, so they photograph well. YOU fly me out to where you live, and we'll flip a coin and that will determine what car I am forced to drive. Then WE can line YOUR cars up, and find out which one is faster. If you spring for dinner and a night at a nearby Hilton, I would stick around and drive the other car, too.
Until then, I really don't think it matters what you think. The Z06 owner and I were out there beating on $200K worth of hardware, for our own fun. We didn't have to share the video with you.

ummm the Viper traps higher then the vette and weighs less..It's not hard to grasp the Zo6 would of lost even if Jesus himself drove. Get over it the Viper is faster..Holly **** how hard is that to understand? Wait until a 4 door hellcat charger pulls the z06 I think this forum may just shut down.

Even if you have a remake of this test sanctioned by both parties, you'll see the same thing.
Let's face it. We'll see peace in the middle east before we see Z06 owners admitting defeat.

The race doesn't need to be rerun as the outcome will still be very similar/the same.
The Viper is slightly faster (than a manual C7 Z06) at all speeds, no real surprise there though I too had thought the results might be a little closer.
Were there some PCM/heat soak/torque management issues (keep in mind, 7 speed manual C7 LT1s can't quite match the A6 or A8 automatic versions in a straight line (from a dead stop at least) as well)?
I think that could be at least part of the reason for the loss, yes.
Will the automatic Z06 be able to beat both of those cars from a dead stop up to 140mph?
I still think it might, but am not betting my life on it either.
As others have mentioned, 'naturally aspirated power' is also tough to beat. I've seen 450rwhp NA C5s beat 550rwhp supercharged C5s in the past as well.
