Z06 VS everything else (post real stories/videos only, not what you think)

nspec, and I mean this with respect. I thought the same thing. It looks like you lose about a half car length with every shift. I am not criticizing your driving. I am just saying what I observed and likely what the poster of that comment observed. It almost appears as if you are granny shifting. When the camera "switches sides", it does not appear that the Viper loses anything on his shifts.
Just an observation...not criticism.

Some of you are focusing too much on the actual shift. But, an experienced eye should tell you that the Viper was still out-accelerating the Z06, between those shifts. Even if both driving was identical, you could not overcome the acceleration difference.
Just being realistic here.

I have no dog in this fight, but I have a question........
On the then "new" Mustang GT500 , the engine's power output was limited (within the tune itself) during the so called "break-in" period....
"Your Shelby GT500 power train control module (PCM) strategy contains
a feature to limit supercharger boost pressure and engine speed to
4,000 rpm for the first five consecutive miles of vehicle operation or 50
engine start/warm up cycles. This feature is enabled prior to shipment. If
neither of these conditions have been satisfied prior to customer
delivery, full power will not be available."
Could something like this be in play for the new C7 Z06 as well ?

So...let me get this straight. You ran even with an Aventador (for a couple runs)...and then you get beat soundly by a Gen V Viper?
I would think an Aventador would have the edge on Gen Vs...right?
The car should not be that severely affected by heat soak after 3 highway pulls...something is def not right. I have seen bolt on C6Zs do better against Gen Vs.

Ok...so there seems to be enough proof out there to validate this heat soak issue now. I want to know how in the world GM missed this issue. Years of development, lab work, road testing, etc, etc yet we have this issue. I am shocked more so because GM has time and again hailed this their most track capable vette. Something does not add up.

I hope Harlan Charles (marketing director) is getting wind of all of this. I know it won't matter to 95% of their customers (and maybe that's what they're banking on), but this would stop me from buying one. I'll take the Viper and deal with the lack of a targa top.

Someone asked about my blue Viper. Approx 1300 rwhp and climbing...

I've run an Aventador in my Viper. It was a dead even race, but the guy kept shutting it down around 120 mph. They are only fast from a dig, not on the highway. The AWD and dual clutch auto doesn't help too much, from a highway roll. Bet a ZR1 would also be a dead even run with an Aventador, having raced both of them myself.

Pretty BRUTAL real world results for the new C7 Z06 so far:
- Crashed at Nurburgring - Even with backup blue Z no times have been released
- Lower top speed than C6 ZR1 and even C6 Z06 that is down 145 Hp?!?!
- Lower than expected trap speeds in 1/4
- Probst running each of his successive 4 laps slower at Road Atlanta
- Same Motor Trend crew noted heat issues during their separate Acceleration runs
- This video of a Nineball's Viper - with less horsepower - Pulling way too far ahead in 7(!) runs even with a cool down period.
Does not exactly read like the fastest Vette ever, does it.

This C7Z is supposed to make all cars around and above its price range scared, now u have the likes of me and every other serious guy on the road gunning for the C7Z because we know they are rip for the taking.
IDK, GM made what they wanted to make good for them its nothing like what i dreamed or desired.

Yeah lots of questions still. The C7Z is a let down in my eyes in most areas. Yes its beautiful but come on whats the deal with lack of acceleration!?
