Did anyone expect demand to be so low???
Nearly every forum dealer is posting weekly with open slots for cars, I personally did not expect that. Do you think this is because of the A8 being delayed or the fact folks are just not into paying $80-100K for a Corvette? I personally think it is a little of each, it will be very interesting to see how soon discounts come, it would not surprise me if some start this winter just like the C7 last year, but only 7-Speeds more than likely.

No A8s are ready to be installed...it is as simple as that.

I think it's a couple of things:
No A8 available yet
Very limited Z07 package availability
I think the A8 is the real killer however.

We shifted gears to the M7. Really sad, but we need our car to complete R&D on our intake, and waiting months is not an option.
I personally think the Nurburgring fiasco did not help matters. If I was in charge of marketing, two Z07s would have been shipped to the Ring, just in case. No one cares about the street version of the Z06 at the track. Nothing is worse than inflated hype, letting the wind out of the balloon without results.
Maybe the Blue Z06 posted higher lap times than the ZR1, which would be a total letdown, but not unexpected. Less we not forget, the ZR1 was two and a half seconds off the Porsche 918 Spyder at Laguna Seca, and is in third place only to the 981 and Viper TA (1:33.62 vs 1:33.70), which is virtually a tie)*

Scraping the splitter.
A forum dealer has stated that 80%+ of his deposits are for the A8. People want to try the new transmission, that's why there are M7 cars available.
Similarly, the discounts earlier this year were predominantly on base Stingrays, not Z51's.

You've had some 800 cars ordered so far, hardly a trivial number for a Z06 or any similar car. The large dealers have already ordered more than 20% of their total model year allocations. (My dealer has gotten 11 of his 47.) And A8 coupes and convertibles taken together constitute more than 80% of the preorders. That means less than 20% of the market has taken up more than 20% of the allocations. Do the math and you will quickly see why there a few positions available.

Snorman's point about 80% of one dealer's orders being A8's says it all. There are several reasons for this...most of which have been batted about many times here. In any case, I think the demand will be brisk once the A8's start rolling, and the Z's become more commonplace in the wild.
Although mine is an M7, I'm really hoping the A8 is as good or better than advertised.

The cars not even available at the dealership and people are already claiming it's less than fantastic.....or less than desirable....

A lot of people are putting a great deal of faith in the reports that the A8 is going to do what they say it is?? And I sure hope they are right!! Personally!!! there is no way that I would order a 80k plus $ car with a new untested trans. No Flaming please!!! that is just my opinion!! If you think it is hard to get a A8 now! Watch what happens if it doesn't perform as advertised. As I said, just my .02 JD

To hear THEM tell it, the TA crushed the ZR1.

Just made it home from my dealer, and the 80% number is a pretty good estimate. They asked me if I wanted to change my order to an M7. If I wanted the manual, I could go ahead with the order now. I'm waiting for the A8, as a lot of other buyers are.

It is a valid point about spending $80k plus for an untested tranny. However, isn't the LT4 as presented in the Z06 basically an untested engine? I haven't ever driven one.

There is still no 'Ring time from the base Stingray already into year 2 of production - the blame/excuse for no posted time placed squarely on the weather. Yet the Camaro Z28 'Ring time from the same exact day where posted. Maybe that rain cloud foliowed only the C7 around the track.

Doubt they had the C7 Stingray, and the Z28 out on the exact same time. Way too much to go wrong and keep track of.
Besides the C7 Z51 IS quicker than the GS....and hey I don't remember seeing a time for the GS either.
Only one car everyone wants a time for at the ring, and that's the ZO6. And that'll come once the hype bubble for the car dies down abit.
By the way the C7 Stingray is quicker than the ZL1 around Laguna.
2 seconds quicker there than the 05 ZO6 was too. The Lightest ZO6.
I also don't see a C6 Base Car around Laguna either....
BOTH the Z28 and the C7 Stingray...faster than the time posted in 08 for the ZR1....
Yep GM refuses to post a time because it's so damn slow alright
