Default Which Z06 is the best?

Being a C5 and C6 Z06 owner and buying a C7Z which do you think was the best at launch? Performance wise yes the new Z is killer but...

C5Z - fixed roof body, LS6 engine, etc

C6Z - new frame, ls7, wide body, new brakes, carbon, magnesium, etc

And now the C7 (I love this car don't get me wrong)

I just still think that the C6Z was the best Z at its time

Thoughts?

Wow, you make such a strong compelling argument. If you are refferring to the auto climate at the time they were released I would say the Z06 has been consistently close to the rest of the cars. But the C7Z is hands down ahead of the c5 and c6 on paper.

Yes as expected with the evolution of the car. My argument is that the C6 seemed to be more of a ground up built then a advancement of the base car.

As usual this is a conversation not a statement. That's what forums are for?

I guess sales figures, when they are available, will give you some idea, but even then, different market/economic conditions across the three generations will skew the real picture.

My personal opinion is that no matter what the C7 does, the C6 Z/ZR1 is, and will ALWAYS be, one of the best Corvettes ever made, speaking from both a performance and looks perspective. There are aspects about its design that I like better than the C7Z. Similarly, there are many aspects of the C7Zs design that I like better than the C6Z/ZR1.

My point is, I'd want both in my garage and the C7Z's arrival has not turned me off of C6Z/ZR1s

The same cannot be said about the C5Z, IMO. Since the C6Z was introduced, I forgot all about the C5Z. I would not consider a C5Z. The hardtop style roofline is the only design element I like about the car. That is not enough, IMO.

Interesting how no one ever mention the '13, one model year, 427 vert. with the best of the Z/ZR1 ,including the carbon fiber package. Mine has been to Hennessey for the 700+ supercharge package and is serial #1. It is awesome and the top goes down.

The C7 is best to me hands down. The only reason why I didn't buy a Z in the past is because of the fixed roof. Who in the hell wants to drive a sports car without the means to go topless...Well not only did they answer a lot of prayers, they even introduced a convertible version! Not to mention 650 horses of stone cold fun!!!
Its just my opinion but you asked...

C6Z was great, but I would never buy another without having the heads done or having a warranty.

I think the best solution is to have all three. Of course I haven't driven a C7 variant, yet, but I'm fond of both the C5 and C6 Z06's. Since my primary interest is autocrossing, the C5 is still frequently the car to have (I know that will drive some of you C6 fans into a frenzy, but it's true). I am still waiting to see a C7 in action, so the jury is still out on that car.

Why aren't you C7 owners in Arizona bringing your cars out for a little parking lot action?

I understand what you're trying to say. I'm not sure everyone here does. I would agree, for its time, the C6Z was the baddest at its launch. When I first got my C6Z nothing stock could touch me. I raced exotics all the time and the only thing that came close was being neck and neck with an F50. When the C6Z came out there was the gallardo, murci, CS and 430. The C6Z murdered those and the 997Turbo all day long. Additionally, the aluminum frame and big 7,000rpm 427 were a game changer.

While I can't wait to get my hands on the C7Z07 (I've had both the C6Z and C5Z in the past) and know that it will be an unbelievable performer, I'd say the C6Z takes the cake as far as your question is concerned. There is a lot of stiff competition out there these days and I don't think the Z will run away from everyone else as easy as it did in the past.

C6Z>C7Z>C5Z

Best,
Gene

That's all well and good Gene but in 2001, then 2002 what could touch a C5Z?

911 Turbo, Viper, Cobra R, 360 Modena. While the C5Z could edge some of these out it didn't quite destroy them like the C6Z destroyed its competition. However, a big reason I chose the C6Z instead of the C5Z was because the difference between a C6Z and a C6 was much more than the difference between a C5Z and a C5. That said, nothing sounded as good as my C5Z with Borla Stingers and carless headers.

Best,
Gene

I have to agree with you. I'm a dealer and owned them all. I just bought a 2013 427 all option car except for the chrome wheels to keep as one of my personal cars. It has the best of all the C6 corvettes all in one car. If you like the GS ZO6 & ZR1 then why not go topless and have it all in one Corvette. 2013 427 is a all around Amazing car, Also the best looking!!!!!!! the prices got so cheap that its a no brainer not to buy one. Not sure if many people really know what this Corvette is all about. When the Corvette buyer take the time to find out what this Corvette is i think you will see prices go up. To me this is truly a one of a kind Corvette. As far as investment goes i believe this 2013 427 and the 2013 ZR1 will be the ones to own.

I feel the same way about it. I like the new C7Z, but the C6 Z06 was made for the track with NA LS7, frame, etc. I like the C5Z as well.

The c7 obvioulsy it has a 650 horsepower engine with no head issues,a real interior, its not even fair to compare. To even discuss this car versus a 405 h.p c5 z06 or even a c6 version with 505 h.p is not even worth it.The c7 z06 even surpasses the Zr1.

Back in 2006, the year that I bought my C6Z, it was a true sensation here in Europe!
My love affair with the car will never end, BTW.
But of course, thanks to advancements in technology, the new generation will be much better again. As it is supposed to be!

What do you mean? Did you or do you have problems? The car is warranted.
