did include the tow eye bolt for the european and mid east cars.

just like gm was too cheap to factory in a rear end cooler on the US cars

Even base model 3 series BMW's have had them for decades...Honda S2000...the list goes on.

Default my 2 cents on tow eye bolt option

Maybe one reason import autos have the tow eye bolts are so they have the option to cinch down securely on ships? Makes sense that they wouldn't want to loose any overboard on the rough seas...or sliding into another object during a hard listing. As the C7 goes across the pound, GM's bean counters may have not had any say towards not including these...no hard facts on my end, just my 2 cents.

If numbers help, I agree. Should be an option. Probably standard on the Z07 given the "track" configuration it seems it will have. It should come from the factory.

There is no reason GM shouldn't add this as an extra cost option on US market cars--just another profit center for GM and helpful to track rats. A no-brainer for GM.....

Maybe because GM thinks Corvettes don't break down that often on the track? There are TONS of C5s and C6s on the track, I'm sure more than a few must have broken down, how were they towed?

Excellent idea, OP.

99.8% of Corvette drivers don't know what a track is and would rather have an automatic garage door opener than a tow hook.

I would think that any shop that does automotive fabrication could whip one up pretty easily.

If you go to HPDEs and track days, you will always see lots of Corvettes. C5s and C6s are among the most popular track day cars. I do not know what percentage of all owners track their cars, but a significant amount do so.

As far as affixing a tow hook, it is not hard to do and their is a spot on the frame to do so. It would just be nice to have it as a clean, nice-looking factory option.

Corvettes on the street are towed on flat beds generally and most tow truck drivers I see hook onto the cross member to winch the car and tie down to those forged A-arms or to the wheels.

A tow hook is a great idea. I would hate to see how a tow truck operator might hook up to one on the highway if they were somewhat new at it. I think it would be a good feature for any vette, not just those that are tracked.

Exactly - my 09 CTS V has the receptacle, but I still had to go to the dealer to buy the
eye hook. Wanted the GM one, just in case of a failure they would stand behind it.

Well actually about eighty bucks, but worth it!

If you pull up the rear carpet corner on the passenger side, you will see the impression of a tow hook in the battery cover. The storage holder for the tow hook is there and waiting for the device. Come on GM - You can do it.

I approve this motion. C'mon GM, show attention to detail! I'll pay for this option if it's made available.

The tow hook should be a standard feature, not an option.

It should involve nothing more than checking the option box and installing the parts just like the exported cars.
My 2012 CTS-V has the threaded section to accommodate a tow hook but the tow hook is not included. I found this out the hard way. I had to purchase my own at $130. GM does provide a tow hook free on exported CTS-V's but not the US version.

I am not aware of any location on my 2007 Z06 for a tow hook, unless it is hidden...

Carl, did your "V" come with the tow hook? Mine did not and I had to purchase it from the dealer at $130. I had the location to attach it but no tow hook was included, only an air pump.
