A big reason why I expect the new Z06 to start at $79,995.

The new Z06 is really just a Z51 Stingray.. with a blower, bigger wheels/tires/brakes and more aero accessories.

Exactly... something too many here seem to forget when "debating" pricing.

A common frame cuts production cost dramatically.

But I don't think that GM has any motivation to offer the C7 Z06 at less than $100,000. Basically, if they sell too many that would hurt their CAFE numbers. And if they sell at $100,000 then that's a good profit margin

Incredible internals? Good internals yes, however, as already discussed, "All forged parts" are not all equal.

Unless I have missed something (would not be the first time) the LT4 will employ the same gas millage enhancements the LT1 is already using. Consequently, the new ZO6 should not hurt GM's CAFE numbers at all, however, and on the other hand may well strengthen them.

The C7 ZO6 is IMO the first true all out performance car coming from GM that has high production numbers in mind .......... but only if the cost is kept below 6 figures as seen in lessons already learned with the C6ZR1.

Yeah, the C7 Z06 is a LT4 instead of a revision of the LS9 but I expect the internal engine build to be similar.

The LT4 has a 10 to 1 compression ratio while the LS9 has a 9.1 to 1 compression ratio.

All forged engine parts are not equal ? Well, some people call sintered parts as forged parts but that's not correct. Forged parts and billet parts are the best that can be done.

Now, forged pistons in the engine require a careful warm-up
.
