New Pic of Silver C7 Z06! "0-60 acceleration in less than 3.5 seconds"
"The new Z06 Coupe and Convertible join the lineup for 2015. The new Z06 delivers supercar levels of performance and technology, including at least 625 horsepower and 635 lb-ft of torque from an all-new supercharged engine, and true aerodynamic downforce for high-speed stability. The Z06 Coupe is the most capable Corvette in the brand’s history, recording the fastest lap of any production car ever tested at GM’s Milford Road Course test track. The Z06 Convertible will be one of the most capable convertibles on the market – matching the coupe model – with 0-60 acceleration in less than 3.5 seconds."
I thought it will be less than 3 second
the new pic
It looks so beautiful from this angle

Hard to do with RWD.

The silver Z06 vert, adrenaline red interior, with the pearl nickel wheels, will be one head turning ride. Hopefully the one they are sending to the New York show will have the pearl nickel wheels for the first introduction.

The Z looks fantastic in that pic.
I'm sure the release was a blanket estimation for every variant - vert, coupe, manual and auto. You could potentially have four slightly different times between them. I don't see Chevy posting a bunch of different times when "less than 3.5" sums all of it up.
Less than 3.5 means it's at least 3.4, which is what the ZR1 typically got clocked at. I'd expect anywhere from 3.1 - 3.4 between the variants. Some people will freak out over this but it really doesn't mean anything at this point.

It says "less than 3.5 secs"...so that means it could be 1 sec....or less than that...
Just like "at least 625HP" could mean 700hp...or more...
I wouldn't get caught up with that vague hint at minimum performance....
......but judging from what a stock C7 Z51 can do in the real world, I bet it's going have very impressive performance.....
...Emphasis on VERY

For the 911 it is a lot easier with it's RR layout.
I agree with what others have said about the time. GM knows it will be at least as fast as the ZR1 at 3.4 seconds (GM's official spec) so "less than 3.5" is just a safe bet that sounds fast enought to keep most people happy.

I remember back in the day, that 0-60 in 6 seconds was considered fast. My wife's Lexus LS 430 will do 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Course mostly we just drive it like the japanese caddy that it is, in a very light throttle cruising mode. Now though, if a show room stock hot car doesn't do 0-60 in 4 secs or less, it's a dog. Boy have we become jaded. A stock C7 doing 0-60 in 3.8 secs and 11.7/119 in the quarter by one of our corvette forum members in a non-Z51 A6, recently posted here( bone stock), is a very fast street car. Now I'm a charter member of the "too fast is never enough club", running around in my 587 RWHP/568 RWTQ maggie supercharged GS, which is as fast as the C7 Z06 is going to be, but whatever the numbers turn out for the Z06, it will be a seriously fast street car. Just like the ZR1.

Finally!!!! New news and photos!
And yes...less than 3.5 could mean 3.499999
So the official 0-60 time on the site for the ZR1 was 3.4?
Thank god it's less than 3.5. I wouldn't buy it if it was 3.6
While it's cool to know, 0-60 is meaningless. What's the 0-100 or 0-150?
Best,
Gene

Take a look at the Z06 coupe in this picture. It could be the lighting, but it looks like the Rubicon fender flares are painted silver to match the car.

And this is one of the reasons that we'll be blessed with a C7 ZR. No way in hell the "top-of-the-line" vette is only 3.5...regardless how meaningless 0-60 times are. To me the bigger question will be how to achieve 3.0 or less with the ZR, to be on par with the F12? Unless GM does something really radical, both will be RWD. Weight will likely be very similar. F12 with 730 bhp does 3.0 and 11.0 in the 1/4. Much better than that with RWD will be hard to surpass.
