No! Name dilution.
They did it right last time, stick a bigger engine in the vert and call it LT4 convertible in line with the 427 convertible. The Z06 moniker should be reserved for cars built with performance as the primary goal. That's not the case with a vert. For obvious reasons.

interesting marketing angle and model-separation within the brand...this has merit, IMO, even if no engine changes.

Yes definitely make a convertible. Even though I would never buy one as I prefer the hardtop, every high end sports car in this price and power point offers one. No need to be the oddball in this market.

No way and here is why. They need to focus on just getting the Z06 out in general, I mean really …how much more do you think you need. They gave you a removable roof and auto in the new Z06 and now you want a vert too….

Yes, as I said earlier.
The fact that the ZO6 has a removable roof for the first time is a big clue that there will NOT be a convert. Simply no need.

When I bough my red convertible, my father could not understand why I would spend all that extra money on a convertible when you could take the roof off of the coupe. He simply did not "get it".

You know what I love...all these people who HAD to get a vert in the summer time all drive with the top up and the air on or drive with the top down and the windows rolled up. I see that in a lot of the states I visit too. So why exactly did they get a convertible? Vert people crack me up...

Personally favor retractable hardtops like in my SL55. Looks great with roof up nice and quiet too and drops fast and don't get wrinkles or fade or age like ragtop and is better for security as well.
The convertible viper is great looking car. The convertible z06 will be great looking car as well. People want wide bodied convertible at least I do. So unless they again make a grand sport they should absolutely offer the z06 in vert form. What I see no need for this time around is
a ZR1 or a Grand sport model. Especially since the z06 is so reasonable or supposed to be so reasonable in price.
And lots of us car guys want more power than the base car so makes sense to give us option on vert versus removable roof coupe.
There might be slight market for non removable roof z06 for hardcore track guys .

Yeah because the targa top eliminated the vert from the base car. If people don't like rag top cars don't buy one. It's that simple

Taking off a removable roof is still a pain compared to pressing button and dropping the roof. And you still get much more open feeling with a vert over a removable roof.

I also agree folding hard tops are awesome for the reasons you state but they do add quite a bit more weight comp'd to a soft top.

Personally targa top rules, my last street/sometime track car was a hardtop. Had my targa off today its great. No roll bar needed to add to take on track.
I also have a 996 cab. I drive top down in weather over 50 if its not raining.
But I say build it. It will sell.

Since Chevy essentially built a Z06 convertible in the 2013 427 ragtop, I'll bet they eventually build a C7 Z06, though probably not the first year. Build cars that people want and make money, right?

I personally love the targa roof of any option. It can be a full time hardtop or a roofless option 100% of the time and maintain 100% of the natural body lines. Convertibles I see are rarely driven with the top down anyway, so it's really like why even build a convertible... unless they just like to say they have a convertible. Convertibles to me honestly look ugly with the top up.
However, I voted yes because, it's easy for Chevy to sell more.

I don't care if they do or they don't. The last convertible I purchased was back in 1963 and I don't plan on duplicating that mistake. They can build a Z06 convertible but I won't be buying one. I'll leave that up to others.
I don't even have a use for a targa top. I've had them over the years(Corvette and Camaro) and I never removed them(the wife would sometimes, but she is as long gone as those cars are).
