Hey Joe, how can it have a cf torque tube? You were SO SURE it didn't to the point of putting down the guy that said it did right here on this forum.

Now that pictures of the Z06 taken at the show and Tadge saying the Z06 has a carbon fiber torque tube torque, my question has been answered. GM has confirmed the answer to my question, not you or the early posters.

Tadge seems like a good dude.
And a definite car guy.
Good one to have at the helm of Corvette.

Nice video! Tadge and the Corvette Team really impress me.
It was interesting hearing how Hydramatic was asked to benchmark the new 8 speed auto against the DCTs in a wide variety of shift modes, not just a full throttle 1-2.
Also interesting that the Dual Mode Exhaust and Magnetic Ride suspension will be standard. Hopefully, it won't push the cost up too much over the last model.

I've never met him, but Tadge seems like that really cool Uncle that you never had
He is a total Car Guy through and through I especially liked it when he referred to the new Z06 as being sophisticated and not crude like the Viper

Great video, and very informative. Tadge orates in a very down-to-earth presentation. Great guy and a superlative engineered car.

A lot of people were questioning the method of achieving the "allegedly" faster shifts compared to Porsches PDK. It seems that a lot of people freaked out for no reason. And it looks like Team Corvette is about to render the DCT obsolete. Strap yourselves guys: The next couple of years are going to be very very interesting.

Viper Who?
Neat interview and I also thought the not-so-subtle dig on the Viper was hilarious! Back in the C5 days, when then chief engineer Dave Hill was asked about the Viper he diplomatically stated that the Corvette was not in direct competition with the Viper, to which Motortrend added, "...spoken like a man with two less cylinders to play with!". The Corvette may not have been in direct competition with the Viper, but the C6 Z06 left the Viper decisively in the dust and the Corvette has since not looked back, despite SRT's best efforts to out muscle it. The cars they have directly in their sights now are legitimate supercars, and it is heartening to see the level of engineering that goes into keeping the Corvette competitive in such a rarefied field. Good stuff indeed!

If the starting price is $78,995, that's only $17,000 over a Z51 2LT with mag shock and exhaust. Quite a bargain!

I kinda feel sorry for the dodge viper team. They brought the car back and it's not selling very well. The Z06 looks to be a better car in almost every respect and is $20K cheaper.
I don't know if the Viper is long for this world after this model..
