A C7 Grand Sport, would be another great Corvette. Why not?
I also believe they will build it, as others have stated already. It's only about the timing of when.

Read my posts from day one-2010. I have always supported the Grand Sport and I own a Z06. I personally know two ZR1 owners and about a half dozen Z06 owners and none of them run down the GS. It's a very minor, but vocal, number of Z06 owners(and also some non Corvette owners) that are butt hurt over the successful grand Sport.
It's easy to be a hater from a keyboard. I've yet to have a Z owner shun my car to my face.

Chevy will likely wait until they've got a year or two of the current base model under their belt, and maybe a year after they have the ZO6 on the street. 2016?

Well, not knowing for sure, I'm guessing the valve issue is history. With the LS7 still in production, and the success of the C6 427 vert, it would not be a surprise to see a 427 GS. 525 HP, or thereabouts, is probably doable, and might fit nicely between the base car at 460 and the ZO6 at 640.

GM states that there will be no ZR1 vette, and people ignore it talking about what engine the ZR1 will have, talk about what is going to be on the grand sport, which is done, take the blinders off people, GM isn't making these cars, and sure as hell isn't going to put a gen 4 motor in a car that has a new gen 5 motor, its time to move on, the C6 was the only corvette that had so many models, and GM went into bankruptcy .
The C5 had 1 performance model, the C4 had the LT4 GS for one year( the lt4 found its way into non GS cars but was still only one year), which was the last year for the ZR1 which sold very low numbers(something like 400)
With the new Z06 having over 600hp(it will probably be rated at 650 to stay in front of the viper) there is Zero need for another performance model.

Direct injection, variable valve / cam timing, turbo /super charging are the tech advances that will be common as auto manufacturers try to meet the new emissions and CAFE requirements. It may take a few years but it's inevitable. Carburetors are gone and diesel powered vehicles are gaining ground. What's next on the techno front?

Cause all the whiners, crying about the new Z being FI and calling all the GS owners posers, would then be forced into buying the "poser" car to have their beloved na/427
...oh the sweet justice that would be

I'm dying to buy one of these cars so badly. I CAN buy one by this summer, but it's the idea of a power bump, and/or a middle model like a Grand Sport holding me back. I don't make crazy money and this is a very rare treat for me, to be able to buy a car like this. So I want to do it once, and that's it. I can't afford to buy one, trade it in the next year for the next best.
So what do you guys say? If no power bump in site by 2016, just give in and pull the trigger? You think next year at this time, we will know what would be in store for the 2016 model year? I know some of you have big ol' crystal ballz. Whip em' out!

I felt like a widebody had to be offered on the C6 GS because the design was becoming dated but I feel like the C7 is exotic enough for GS without the widebody. However, a widebody is certain to happen, which is fine by me really.
Moving more Corvettes is good for the brand and it creates a better business case products like the ZR1.

The Grand Sport has been the biggest waste in the Corvette world. The original was a race car. The C4 version was a serialized option with vinyl decals and stripes. The C6 version made a little more effort but was the Z body on an otherwise base Corvette. I know most guys always want the Z06 to be the ultimate track/race car. The original bad boy was the 63' Grand Sport with its porcupine engine.

I just left our monthly corvette club meting and as usual a GM rep got up and talked about new things from GM. He told us there would be a
C7 grandsport next year based on the new Z07 wide body. In the past he has provided good information to the club, we shall see. Dont flame me out I am just repeating the information I was provided.

While having a Z06 or a ZR1 would be really cool; a wide body Stingray Z51 A8 even without an additional HP bump would be the sweet spot for me.
Throwing in another 25-40 horses would just be icing on a pound cake, appreciated but not really needed. Obviously I'm just speaking for myself.
The part I don't understand is why others decry a GS-ish model. It doesn't cheapen the Z06 or a potential ZR1. Everybody that would know a Z06 or a ZR1 knows the difference and knows the pecking order. Anybody else would see your Zxx and my Z51 and merely see a Corvette and not appreciate the differences anyway.
Ya know the saying different strokes....

While it's not needed, it would certainly be nice. The gap between the Z06 and base Vette is bigger than it's ever been. Either something in between or a power bump would be really nice

Check out the new dual clutch in the cadillac ATS is the ZR1 next? You guys have no idea what is in the works at GM.......

I personally believe the new 8 speed auto is just the planned replacement for the normal 6 spd auto, as we already know is going in all 2015 Vettes, and the trucks/SUV's (pretty much everything...)
The reason the vette is not selling with a DCT in 2015 is it was not ready in time, but as soon as it is ready it will show up on the option sheet...
