Ok, I'll fall on my sword regarding straight line speeds but Track times tell the story when you are talking about a "Track" variant like the Z06:

The GS was a big hit and exactly what people asked for. It's a great way easily add a new model and keep the lineup fresh over time. Plus, the investment is nothing. It's almost 100% guaranteed again.
However, I don't think there should be a wide body GS. Let the Z be that much more special. It will keep the Z image and value higher.
I do support a GS based on the Stingray, not the Z. Chevy could easily add an advanced aero package, tune the LT1 for a slight bump, enhance the cooling and go with a better tire.

What year did the C6 GS come out? Wasn't it in 2010? If so, logic would dictate that a C7 GS is still years off, but then again they might not want to wait that long this time around. While I certainly don't think they will bring one out for 2015, I also don't think it will be 5 or 6 years before we see it and I'm betting there could be one as soon as the '16 model year.

No one yet has explained the Wide Body Vert we have all seen pics of here.

You say that as if it's a bad thing. Theoretically posers exist across the model spectrum - most cars will never see a track, and there's nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day, it's volume that allows GM to make a business case for each variant.

I hate the "poser" label applied to the Grand Sport. That just smacks of insecure egomania on the part of Z06 owners. They seriously need to get over themselves with that type of arrogance. It's a Corvette, not a Veyron so no matter which one you have it's not going to be that unique anyway.

Chassis has little to do with it…the GS is about the “look” of the Z06 without paying for the Z06 bits that make it more expensive (i.e. the LT4 etc.). Some won’t pay the premium because they don’t want/need Z06 performance, others simply want and can’t afford the Z06.
I don’t anticipate a non-Z06 widebody variant until GM determines real-world sales levels for the C7 Z06.
Remember these C6 Z06 production numbers?
MY2006 - 6272
MY2007 -8159
MY2008 – 7731
MY2009 – 3461
MY2010 – 518 (GS Intro)
If they can sell the C7 Z06 at anywhere near the C6 Z06 heyday volumes, there’s no need to risk cannibalizing those high-margin sales with a lesser variant. However, if like I stated earlier, the C7 Z06 only sells 500+ or so units/yr, you can bet GM will draw the GS buyers into the mix with a C7 GS (or whatever they name it).
IMO a non-Z06 C7 widebody is inevitable…the market will determine the “when” based on how well the Z06 sells over the coming years.

The GS increased overall sales immensely and if you think it's not coming you're fooling yourself.

The real sweet spot
Finally, a person after my own heart!
Why put us through, skinny base car, skinny vert, wide body Z06, to finally get to a wide body with base car performance.
The base Stingray coupe and convertible should have both been wide bodies in the first place.

Burning Brakes
MY2009 - 16956
MY2010 - 12194 (GS intro yr)
MY2011 - 13598
MY2012 - 11647
MY2013 - 13466
Now, I agree the case can be made that the GS probably kept overall C6 sales from tanking further after 2009.

I would say (as most are) it is a distinct possibility we will see a C7 GS, however IMO it's gonna be a while. If you look at the C6 it was out what about 4 years before the GS came out..now it MAY not be that long for a GS C7, but I can't see it happening for at least 3 years. GM will sit back and monitor C7 sales, and the C7Z. We also don't know for sure the final price point for the C7Z..that will have an impact on what happens also.
A lot remains to be seen, lots of factors involved. It sucks having to play the ...when will the next better version of the C7 come out...its almost like video games and tech toys.. after 1 year, your "new" stuff ain't new anymore and its outdated I always felt bad for early C6 owners (LS2)when the LS3 came out
