Z06:Will you stick with the stick?
Curious how many are that anxious for a performance car with an auto.

I would get the auto this time assuming the tests of the auto don't show a material difference in performance vs. the manual. I already have three sticks, don't need anymore.

I'm trying to keep an open mind with the auto and will follow reviews carefully. Even if it turns out to be as amazing as people are saying, I think when it comes down to it I just wouldn't feel right ordering it as I believe it would negatively affect the fun I have with the car.
Right now I'm 95% stick, 5% auto. These percentages may change in the future

If it truly does perform similar to the PDK then it's the A8 for me but I'll reserve judgement until I read some reviews and hopefully get a chance to sample it in the Z51 (as I doubt there will be a lot of Z06 demo's out there ).

I will need to try one first, but based on my understanding, the autobox will be the performance transmission. If so, that is what I will get, for the first time ever...

I will depend on the actual performance. In other words I would have to drive it to make the choice.
I tried the first paddle A6 in my 2008 C6, was never satisfied with the response and went back to the manual in my 2014 C7.
If the new auto truly shifts on demand, without any lag or "torque management" of the engine power, I would go for it. At my age, not having to take my right hand off the wheel to shift will be an advantage.

Still want to know if it will be possible to deactivate the active fuel management system in the Z06 A8. That's an issue with the 2014 A6.
