Z06:Will you stick with the stick?

Melting Slicks
My first thought would be to go with a stick. My 2014 Z51 is a stick just like my C6 Z06 was. I'm not a big fan of auto's in a sports car. I really do love stick shift sports cars but having said that, I will give serious consideration to the 8 speed transmission if it proves to be all it's cracked up to be.

Keep that open mind. I've driven a dct similar to Porsches (gti) and I also agree that its runner then any manual I've driven. For me its not just the super fast shifts but the way the car feels as you change gears. That's what makes a dct special and fun for me (besides the ultra quick shifts) I don't know if or even now gm can get that feeling using a torque tube. Yes it might shift faster, but the feeling of the car disengaging and then engaging the clutches will not be there.

I swore this time I would get the stick (I have the Auto in my stingray), but with the A8 being introduced, and getting comfortable with the paddle, I am again leaning toward the A8.

It all depends how good that automatic is lol. I hate traditional slushboxes, but if they can make it behave like a DCT meaning the minute I flick that paddle it shifts no delay, no waiting, just done gear up or gear down.
Exciting times now it's wait and see.........

I simply cannot pay nearly $100K for a car, but if I could I would lean towards the automatic, especially if it performs as well as they predict.

I used to say the exact same thing…but once you’ve done it, you get over it quick.
I love the manual in my C6Z, however, if the new auto turns out to be as good as GM claims…it’s got my “lazy-side” really thinkin’ about it.

Since (if and only if a convertible is announced soon) this will be a lifetime daily driver, I'll take three pedals as long as I can physically work them, just because it's more fun and increasingly rarer. But I suspect I could learn to live with this A8. Those who think DCT is an end in itself should try the C7's auto option before they dismiss it.
