Default So how many current 2014 Stingray owners will ....

...trade/sell their cars to get the Z06? How many current Stingray owners just planning on adding to their stable and keep both? How many are happy with the current Stingray and don't want to buy at all?

In 2-3 years my C7 Z51 will be replaced by a Z06. That has been the plan from day 1 and that isn't going to change. I did the same thing with my C6's. First a C6 for 3 years than a C6 Z06 for 3 years. my 09 Z06 was sold a month ago to make room in my garage for my C7.

I would be willing to predict that more early C7 Z06's will be purchased by C6 Z06 or Zr1 owners than current C7 owners.

As long as I'm happy with what I see on Monday (8-speed auto, horsepower, etc.) my C7 Z51 will be going away for a Z06 (same color exterior and interior).

you should keep that bad boy and get the Z06 if at all possible...it will probably be the only C6 to be "collectable" in 40 years.

I like the way you think! Just traded an 08 Z06 for my 2014 Z-51.

After seeing g the hype and facts on the new Z......I think I should have waited to transition from my Z.....

Going to try and do an add. The 09 Viper will be trade bait if I have to lose a car. Wifes Z51 is a keeper.

I'm thinking about it.

Really, I'm waiting for more details. I'm OK with being the guinea pig for the base Z51, but not ready to do it for the top trim. I'm probably going to buy in 2016 when I know more about it.

Maybe. The Z51 is far more car than I need for the tracks I attend. If I find I am out-driving the car (unlikely) then I may upgrade. As long as the Z51 is more car than I am driver, going to a Z06 would only be bragging rights and that's not a big deal to me. I don't need to have the biggest and baddest to be happy... if it serves a purpose, then great but otherwise, I won't bother.

Having said that, I do tend to get the "itch" in time, regardless of need, for something different so it is entirely possible I may upgrade even if the Z51 is still more car than I need.

What about your new 991TTS? Should be a nice little stable! That TTS will rape the new Z on these cold streets.

Me too. I was not even getting the base car, c7, until I realized what a bargain the z51 option was. I will order the new z as soon as a dealer will order me the base care at msrp. I expect that will be the 2nd year of production, although as soft as economy REALLY is, it may not take that long. Also depends on the price. If base is close to 100k they will be discounting them fairly quickly I think.

Come on man.

Did you really need to start a thread like this?

Here is your answer in one word.

MONEY.

If you can afford the Z06, then you will buy it.

If you cannot afford the extra $30 to 40,000 you will settle for the base car.

Nobody would pick the base car over the Z06 if they could afford the Z06.

I think the point was that those who bought a C7 right away may not feel they want the Z06 anymore and are happy enough with their standard C7.

I'm one of those people on the fence. So this does make sense. It's possible the Z06 may not have certain options that the standard Stingray has; this could be a deal breaker.

Sometimes it's not just about money.

I would choose the base car, once it has the A8, and have it stroked to a 416. I'm one those older guys that likes NA cars, and need an automatic to accomodate my dated reflexes.
