Will C7z be worth the premium over z51?
Factory warranty, image, bragging rights. How will this be better than a z51, with blower, bigger brakes and wheels? For me not having a unique engine ( assuming 6.2 which may be wrong) makes car less desirable. z51 already has the aluminum frame, ediff, cooling units for trans & diff, vented hood, dry sump. Carbon brakes, widebody, and a supercharger are worth 35k? Just some thoughts.
I was going to wait for the c7z. I now have the c7 and will trade it for the c7z.

isn't this a similar (but not exact) paradigm to the C6 Z06 vs the C6 GS, possibly with a similar price spread ?
plus it appears that the C7 Z06 will be getting the new LT4 engine which has FI, so the engine will be different...

Looks like some Z51 owners are already getting defensive about being upstaged by the Z06.

As far as bragging rights, it seems that only corvette people like to bicker about that, if a Zr1 is introduced down the line, z06 people will bicker about that.

1st off you need to realize that no mater what options you have, Z51 or not its still a base model
with Z51/ corvette. Second the Z06 is what it always has been to the corvette line.... A different model, will destroy the base in every category, and also have factory warranty.

I remember the first time I saw a C6Z in person, before they were available to the public. It was sitting in the Corvette Museum parking lot, and the car just looked amazing. I was there taking museum delivery of my shiny new 2005 C6 Z51 coupe at the time, and while I loved that C6, I really should have waited a year for the Z. Won't be making that mistake again!

If the LT4 is similar to the LS9 in terms of content it will be a pretty unique engine with improved internals over the LT1.
We have no idea what other performance enhancing components the Z06 will have over the Z51, so it's too early to even try to say. GM is billing it as the most track capable Corvette ever.
He's not referring to performance. He's talking about how some (not all) owners on the forum tried to downplay the superiority of the ZR1 when it came out.

Supercharging a Z51 is very tempting. It would likely be one heck of a car for less money than a Z06...maybe. Depends what else is done to the car. Parts like carbon ceramic brakes can get seriously pricey. Regardless, it would no longer be a factory car with a warranty.
