Check Fig 1 in this recent GM patent application ..see this:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...plication.html

Crank driven centrifugal blower ... should give fast throttle response..

Cheers

This keeps getting posted but I have never saw a post referencing that, and I followed that whole saga pretty closely. My memory is of him mentioning a power output in the 580hp range as he mentioned the engine would be also used in a future ZL1 (as an LSA replacement). Considering that the current ZL1 makes that power, I was always a little skeptical of that number. I could, however, see the LT4 as an LSA replacement used in a couple different applications (Z06, ZL1, CTS-V) in order to keep costs down and avoid the high expense of the previous gen high performance powerplants (LS7 and LS9). If that lowers the cost to the consumer, then I'm all for that!

Do you have a post where the 660hp number was mentioned?

No worries, I think we all would love for that number to be accurate!

That's what I gathered as well from his post, I dug up some this morning and I believe that he mentioned 586hp, I would much rather 605hp or 660hp. I got a feeling closer to Jan we will get a more defined idea of what it's cranking out. Anyone remember that guy Bigg Gunz over at Ls1tech that cause quite a stir about his knowledge of the ECU, PCM and all that stuff. He mentioned one thing that stuck with me for the year. Big brother will be brutal! Part of his post below. I know his integrity was compromised but all that stuff he talked about had to have some truth to it.

“The 2014 LT1 engine is simply amazing. And it has a part time smaller sister and Big Brother coming and Big Brother is downright BRUTAL in power."

Bigg Gunz was a proven troll and nothing he said about GenV that wasn't already known turned out to be true. I wouldn't put much stock in what he says unless it's already a conclusion you would draw.

That said it seems like they would have to pretty severely sabatoge the LT4 to get fewer than 600 hp.

I have to agree with the patent just posted...this looks like a new supercharger setup. That top pulley is too small, off center, and not robust enough for me to think its a supercharger drive pulley...rather, I think its an idler pulley. The patent makes more sense, and explains the new manifold (why get rid of the typical LS runner type manifold that is on everything EXCEPT the supercharged versions). I uploaded the PDF patent in image form below so everyone can see without downloading it.

Just a thought - now that we see the LT4 designated on the engine and the engine cover is black, is the red one the holy grail - L88 we have heard rumors of?

I have no information but I do have a wild imagination!

1. theres no way GM would build an engine that makes 465hp conservatively, will make less than 600hp on boost and DI.

2. how well will this new boost setup work as far as cooling intake charge?
