I've heard this from many different people, some of which don't own Vettes and have never been on this forum.

Then again, to some degree, the same could be said for any automatic tranny car.

Not to the extent of an automatic, awd vehicle that's constantly using 4 separate wheels to find grip. That can't be duplicated in a RWD platform.

Default It is not all about horsepower folks - the law of physics still prevails

The ZR1 only has 2 patches of rubber to handle all that torque where the GTR has 4 patches of rubber and they use computer technology (software engineering) the way it is supposed to be done. For the record the current GTR uses a 3.8 liter V-6 that have twin turbos and it only comes with an automatic transmission that can shift faster than any human can and it all works very well together.

Regardless though I wonder if the upcoming GTR being 595 hp will have any affect on the ZR1 horsepower will be. When both models came out the GTR was 485 hp and ZR1 638, by next year the GTR will have gone up 110 hp....

I think most here already knew all of that regrading the GTR. But thanks for the history lesson. And I disagree on the "software technology" statement. The C7 has proven its electronics, and software, is highly capable:

"With a best lap of 1:25.2 and a top track speed of 110.7 mph, the GT-R is off the Corvette's pace. Blame the desert heat on this summer day all you want, but when push comes to shove, the GT-R gets hot, dials back power and can't keep up with the less powerful, less costly Corvette."

I can't freakin wait for the C7 C06

Remember the new GTR will move up to 600 hp along with more suspension upgrades, Still not very nice to look at but it will be even faster and better handling than the current model. Damn 600 factory hp out of 6 cylinders, The new Z06 will need to bring it hot and heavy.

Wether some of you like it or not, no one owning a new sports car likes to get beat in any performance category. So dct and all wheel drive will be part of the vette s futur. And that my dear friends is called progress. All of you who claim they dont care if the GTR runs this or does that,b.s you do care.It pisses me off that i can kill a gtr on a roll but cant stay anywhere near from a dig.

Nothing new with the gtr crowd. They lie about their real power numbers, mods, etc AND they jump and only want to go from a dig or a really low roll.

Car has baggage a mile long, just like the 5.0.

I just read that the GTR was the slowest moving vehicle for inventory. It's not a surprise because of the boring design. Speed ain't gonna fix that problem.

why z06 vettes were flying off the shelf? Please.Go look at the resale values of gtrs then you can talk.09s are still fetching 60 grand. The car is big and bulky and yes a vette is much better looking but it remains that the gtr is an engineering marvel of a car.

It doesn't matter if the C7Z has 600, 700, or 800hp. The GTR is easier to drive faster around a racetrack. Simple as that.

Different folks, differently stroking it.
