From the shops I’ve talked to with just the cam kit, most prices range from $6000-$8000. This is with parts, labor, install, and tuning.

yeah appears to be a pretty labor intensive job, from watching videos on that subject its amazing how fast very experienced shops can get it done. I can see it being that price especially since a tune is usually 1k or around that off the back.
if I were to do it myself cant image how long it would take me.

Depending on what exactly you are doing or installing it is roughly a 20+ hour job. Your area will dictate the labor rate but figure $2500 minimum labor.

...and, apart from anything else it may vary considerably based on general cost-of-living where you are.

Mine was installed with a host of other mods but the invoice from a reputable, nationally known shop quotes I paid $5500 for that portion including parts, fluids etc.. This was in in early 2021 so I don’t know if the current market conditions will affect that.

Book says 25 hours. I did cam, headers, ported heads, e85 flex fuel and my tuner quoted me 25 hours plus the tune. That was for all labor associated. He did not pull the engine and swap timing chains as my car has very low miles.

typically theres more done than just a cam install. dod/afm delete vvt delete, lifters, pushrods ,valley tray, valve springs all get changed when doing a cam.

Heads have to come off anyway so be sure to replace your lifters and do the DOD lifter delete.

I ended up doing way more than a cam but I was under the impression that the motor needs to come out for a cam swap. I watch some shop builds on Youtube and seems like it is possible to do it in the car? I am going to do an AFM delete on my Cadillac Escalade and I am pretty sure I can do that in the car but I have zero self-control so if I start doing a cam. It will end up with heads, intake, cam, exhaust etc. I will probably be cheaper in the long run to take it out of my hands and have someone do it. Not to hijack this thread.

What part of the country are you in?

I was recently quoted $5,641 from a shop. That's doing cam, dod delete, pushrods, valve springs, lifters, trays, fluids.

$3,212 in labor + another $373 for supercharger removal/reinstall + parts/fluids = $5641 pre tax

you do a cam swap with the motor in. cam just barely clears the radiator when pulled.

There's enough room to do that on a C7? If you have any vids that would be cool to see, that'd make it more tempting to do myself.

I've seen ppl do it with the L86's.

I'm in Houston area and I was quoted $3500 for install and tune only by a very reputable company.

where is this shop? I’m currently working with a shop near me in NJ. But I’m looking to avoid the “vette tax” bs to me the car is just a Chevy.

id like to pay what it’s worth and what they are worth, I have my own tuner tho.

Which shop in Houston? I am about 2 hours north of Houston and would love to get a cam swap for that price.

I have seen rates as low as 3200 for BTR cam/DOD delete in a C7. Parts and Labor. Heard of them way higher as well. but that was a real price at a shop with dyno tune back in 2018. I know places cheaper now, but also know most big shops are higher.
