Default oil capacity

Hi , I have a 2018 Grand Sport and I got a question about oil capacity . Owners Manual says 9.8 Quarts . On my last oil change , my dealer used 10 full Quarts . I pretty much baby my car , but once in a great while I floor it (like once a month) in 1st and second gears . A lot of smoke come out , but when I do it again right after that , it's fine . On idle it's not real smooth . I pulled the air intake tube off , and it's slightly oily in the tube and throttle body . My car has only 2100 miles . I really don't want to put a catch can on , because of the Warrantee . I have read that 10 quarts is too much and 9.5 or less is good . Any thoughts ?????????????????

When I changed the oil on my 15 Z06, I had read all the stories about cars being overfilled with oil or not drained properly so when I did mine I had two 5 qt containers of Mobile 1 5w-30 synthetic oil and drained 1 quart out of one of the 5 quart jugs. Then after pulling the two drain plugs and letting the car down to get all of the oil out of it and putting the new oil filter on, I poured in 9 quarts of oil and then drove the car down the road about 15 or 20 miles and back to get it up to normal operating temperature. When I got back home I waited about 5 minutes and checked the oil level, I had to add about 1/2 a quart to it and it was done. I would think it would be better to underfill a little than to overfill one.

I use 9.5 quarts MAX. I never fill to the max line. Keep her right around center of fill lines.

I've been using 9.0 qts. lately, which brings the level to about 1/3 above the refill line on the dipstick. Since my car doesn't use any measurable oil between changes that is good enough.

Next time tell them to put in 9 quarts in and give you a quart to add as needed.
