Broke drivers axle at the track (SCT)
Well some may know I broke a drivers axle on a very well prepped track. A buddy of mine with a 16 C7 had an extra axle that I picked up yesterday morning. I appreciate having lots of friends I've met in over 54 years of drag racing. Installed it today and back on the road again. I will try and get out one more time to see if I can get in the 10.70s or at least low 10.80s. Weather will be cooperating soon and give it one more shot before I hang it up for the winter. May do a few things this winter to get it in the 10.50s but that will be it. Too much more **** will start breaking so not going there. Big shout out to my buddy G. Barnes that had the axle. Thanks Gary.

Racing at B'ville for 30 years I know all too well doing so breaks things. As is commonly said on the Salt, "If you never break anything you aren't trying hard enough." What a collection of broken parts I've accumulated for so few records.

No I replaced it with a stock axle and will run that the rest of the season and then look into DSS or Gforce. Right now even if I decided to there are no axles available anywhere I was told. So good for now since I only have one more outing this year since our tracks will be closing in another month or so. The aftermarket axle have gone up from 1500.00 when I bought my last DSS axles a few years back, now they are 2200.00 which is a pretty big increase. Maybe someday I'll find some used ones this winter.

Looks like I may have broken an axle last night at HRP in Baytown last night. Going to go with aftermarket. Any thoughts or opinions on brand?
My nephew asked why I was still on factory tires and not drag radials when I showed up. I answered his question right out of the lights on first pass.

I didn’t. I had run the Texas Mile in October with the same setup and clocked 144 in the quarter. On Friday night I knew I was probably running on borrowed time so I just foot braked it and then just “rolled into” the throttle. I didn’t stab it. All torque management and traction control was active. 60 foot was 2.444. Then POW!
As others have mentioned, maybe the ELSD shoved all the torque to the right side?
