2016 Z06 a little disappointed at drag strip
run my stock except tires 2016 Z06 A8 3 weeks ago at our local 1/8 mile track (local meaning 65 miles away), was a little disappointed... running 888rs and a 1.68 60 ft, best time a 7.15 at 100.3 mph, about 60 degree day,... i had a mostly stock 2016 hellcat challenger i did have the demon gears 3.09 with mickey thompson street r's that ran a best of 7.053 at 102 mph on an 80 degree day , the hellcat does have 707 hp but weighs 1000 lbs more than the vette..... i also have a2020 GT500 completely stock with 350 miles on it that ran 7.02 at 105.3 mph 57 degree day this past sunday.(jan 17),with sticky tires this will be in the 6's....... anyways is this about right time and mph for a c7 Z06? also who does great tunes for the Z06 with an A8?

So you have an 707hp+ somewhat modified Hellcat and 760hp GT 500 running .1 faster then your 650hp Z06 and you’re wondering why? Times seem right on the money to me.

The Z06 shines at 60-130+. Not the best drag car but that isn't bad considering its down on power compared to both cars. Isn't the gearing in the Hellcat better? That would account for better 1/8th mile times.

Ahhh yes. Holt. We really need a racetrack in the area. 1/4mi or with turns.

MPH is the true horsepower indicator in drag racing as far as making power, yes ET is the indicator of traction, and winning a race but i'm thinking the Z06 aint making what it's suppose to be is what i'm saying or maybe just mine..

you don't think the GT500 wouldn't excel there, it's doing over 5 mph better in the 1/8th mile?hellcat gearing stock is like 2.54 Z06 is 2.41 not much different ,,, ,weight is like 1000 lbs difference..

Look at the transmission gearing not just the final gear. The GT500 is newer and has 100 HP on the Z06. If you use ROUGH math that you need 10HP to overcome every 100 lbs in a drag race, then the GT500 and Hellcat being heavier but with more power are still within a tenth. Additionally the 2015-2016 Z06 in stock form and stock tune suffers from heat soak pretty bad and will pull timing. Put a lid, intake, headers and tune on the Z06 and you will be surprised how much quicker it is.

PatG tune on 2016 Z06/Z07 and air in your CAC system

One thing I would suggest is that you need to look into the subject of air in your charge air cooler (CAC) reservoir; there are a handful of threads on this topic in this forum that I have spent the last week reading up on and I would suggest that you look into this, as well. Apparently, many of these C7 Z06's came from the factory with more air in the CAC system than what it should have (looks like mine included), and this can cause the CAC pump to cavitate and subsequently shut down (for 3 minutes,) which in turn forces the ECU to start pulling timing. Look into vacuum bleeding the CAC circuit to eliminate potential degradation of power (without even a CEL). GSpeed has spent a lot of time on the subject and appears to have a good tool designed to help bleed the CAC. When I had my car on the dyno PatG said it was pulling 5° of timing and we thought it was maybe the shady Circle-K 93 I filled up with on my way down to Victoria, but judging by the size of the bubble in my CAC reservoir, it may very well, (and is probably more likely,) that it was because I have too much air in my CAC tank.

1/8 MILE is LAME
Said it before! 1/8 mile is for the skittle boys and there import Honda’s with fart pipes. Vettes just start to put its ***** to ground and it’s time to shut down. I will never be on board with 1/8 mile racing. Maybe for R/C cars it would be cool.

My C7 A8 with E85, long tubes and tune went 7.23@99 and 11.18@125 1.63 short time on Nitto 555r2s and drove it 330 miles round trip. I believe was 75 degrees that day. Some don't have 1/4 mile tracks in their area and have to run 1/8.
