Default Lowering : Stock Vs. Articulating bolts

So, I've seen some bolts where the Stud sits on an articulating ball and foot for flex and articulation. Is this a gimmick or is it actually better than using the stock bolts ?

I believe its to help keep the creaking noise down sometimes associated with aftermarket bolts. Factory bolts have a thick rubber pad.

The ball and socket style has been known to wear prematurely and fail. I removed the bottom 2/3 of the stock bolts and much prefer this in terms of safety.
