Michelin Z51 Tires ... ZP or non-ZP?
Time to replace my front tires after several track days. I will be adjusting my alignment to make the next set last longer.
The question is, do I stay with OEM Zero Pressure Pilot Super Sport tires, or go with regular (non-ZP) Pilot Super Sports? I have been impressed with the stock tires, but it looks like they are about $100 more per tire than the non-ZP variety.
I am not afraid of running non-run-flats. I did it all the time with my C6 Z06 because the run-flats for that car were crap. And I have AAA Plus.
Has anyone run the non-ZP variety of Pilot Super Sports on the street and track? I assume that they would be as good, if not better, than the OEM ZP tires.

If you're only going to replace the fronts, I'd stick with the ZPs. The non-ZP are a completely different tire. Different compound and different construction. It's hard to predct how the combination would handle. You could end up with significant understeer or oversteer.
The OEM tires were developed specifically for the C7. They provide tremendous grip for a street tire with decent tread life. I suspect you'll be giving up traction with the non-ZP tires, with understeer as a result.

I would be curious what they run a Spring Mountain. Better to change front and rear.

Was reading an article in a magazine where they compared the C7 OEM tires to those on another car and they tread pattern was different even though they were all Michelin SS tires.
