Default ECS Supercharger Dyno Numbers

Had an ECS Supercharger kit installed this week on an otherwise stock c7 Auto. Here are the dyne numbers after 7 runs. I sat in the waiting room while the dyno runs were performed. Honest Opinions please. My honest opinion....disappointed. fyi. smaller restricter plate installed, (7psi) tuned for 93. No idea what pre SC HP was as they didn't dyno it before the install and don't ask how much boost it was actually making, they couldn't answer that question either. Don't get me wrong. I think the ECS kit quality is top notch, but I have my doubts about all the claims that the resellers and manufacturers are making. I also understand there can be significant differences between an Auto and Manual. I just want to make sure I am getting the most bang for my $7000.00 sc install.

Dang, seems low. Most centri kits our seeing 40% increase with 7 PSI. Let's say your base line stock was 390 rwhp with an auto. Add 40% and that gets you 540 ++. And seems like the Tq falls off pretty rapidly. Keep us posted... BTW, how does the car feel on the street?

I think you'd be even lower if they used smoothing factor 5 that doesnt have as much peak and valleys on the graph. Seems off

It's low. You most likely have a boost leak. You can hear it if you do. Tighten up all the clamps, especially the blower outlet. Mine did this, was a loose blower outlet clamp.

That is pretty low. My ECS kit dyno was 565hp 550tq and that was conservative.

I will check everything when I get a chance. Not sure what to listen for. Wouldnt the shop that installed ir and tuned it hear a leak if it was present? It runs ok but im not sure what a sc c7 should feel like. It shifts hard, the boost feels better compared to stock acceleration of coarse but I dont have that Hell yeah feeling I expected. Idles fine, drivability seems ok but not as nice as stock was. I actually just got back from a quick run across the bridge. Raced a new BMW M6. We were neck and neck. That suckes too. Cant seem to get any good answers from the shop that installed it or ECS thus far. I will try to be patient but if I dont get some answers soon I will have to pursue other avenues. Chris from ECS initially emailed me back asking a few questions and did email my tune file to their tuner for review I did not hear back from them.

Those numbers look good for someone not playing the turn off the knock sensor game. These cars have ton's of false knock, some tuners will turn them down, others will completely turn them off. The truck's don't have this issue but the vette's for some dumb reason do. This is the problem you are seeing w/ all the different numbers is those who are making high power w/ just a blower have their sensors turned off or damn near, I guarantee it!

You are listening for a hiss of air as the rpms go up, like a tire deflating for example. A boost gauge will show the psi flat lining as the rpm goes up above a certain level.

..... you have to increase the threshold or it will false knock a bunch and make no crap power. Everyone i have tuned, i have raised the threshold to get rid of the false knock, but it still pulls timing when there is real knock. Times like these when the old method of pulling plugs and reading them is a good habit to have.

Your making probably 100whp over stock but that still looks a bit low.

Just for comparison with the same kit @12psi and Methanol I'm making 655whp.

This is typically where we see, but we also start with the 8 lb restrictor so I could see a little lower power, but I have never had a car even close to 500.
I'll be happy to help any way we can, I will be back in the office on Monday, feel free to call and speak with me then and we'll see what we can figure out here.

I bet the car has 9-10 degrees of timing in it, adjust the knock sensors and, not off! And it'll take some more timing and watch that number climb!

The average S/C manual is pulling around 560ish on 93 gas. Not sure what is an average for the A6, but I think your numbers are too low. Also, your torque curve should be flatter than that. It drops off too soon. I don't have the expertise to even guess what the problem is, but I'm hoping Doug will help get you set up correctly.

I have a C7, Z51, A6 and I'll be getting my ECS installed and tuned later this month. My tuner is very highly regarded. I will be following this thread closely. By the way, a properly tuned C7 with a S/C should easily spank an M6.

Also, when I get my car on the rollers, I will post the results here. Good luck.

My C7 auto with ECS made 557 HP 531 Torque. I picked my car up today from Ragin Racin and i am very happy with the results.

Send me a PM and we can talk. I have an M7 with ARH 1 7/8 and 8 lb restrictor and I put 590rwhp on that exact dyno.

I would be very interested in seeing your torque curve and how much low end torque you guys are getting on these centrifugals...and especially the A6s.

Can you post your dyno charts here? If you have an ECS, be sure to include which restrictor plate was installed .

Thanks, Mariano (Alfie)

I will again when I am off the mobile site.
UPDATE: I am having Speed Inc. Install and tune looked at by people who know far more than me about ECS kit and tuning in general. I kind of no BS type of guy so I will provide details once available. I will let everyone know what did or didnt happen to make my C7 perform poorly after the install.Again, I think the kit quality is very good. I am comparing the install instructions provide by ECS to my install. Checking hoses, checking QC fittings, pulleys, tensioner, blow off etc. Making sure everything was installed properly. I will have a full report later. Turning the tune files over to an expert. I trust his skills and if anyone can help me straighten this out its him. If not for the 1000 mile gap between he and I, I would have driven the car to him first. Thanks for the posts everyone. Good information.
