[VR] Green Filter vs. aFe Momentum on a VR525 C7
We're always testing and tweaking over here at Vengeance Racing and we were recently lucky enough to have a VR525 C7 build in the shop that was interested in recording the actual real world performance difference between a Green Filter C7 install and complete aFe Momentum C7 cold air intake system. Up front, we want to say that we are a fan of the Green Filter for an affordable air intake upgrade but, we knew that the stock box could only flow so much... how much? Well, let's dive in.
First, the constant: A 2014 C7 Corvette equipped with an LT1 and a 7-speed manual transmission. This C7 was delivered to our facility for the installation of our VR525 package, which includes a set of American Racing long-tube headers complete with catalytic converters, a set of VR spark plug wire insulators, a cold air intake system, and a complete custom street and dyno tune. This package has been a proven performer time and time again, but we're always looking for ways to optimize the package.
With everything installed we turned our attention to the air intake test, which was setup to test a stock air intake with a Green Filter upgrade vs. an aFe Momentum Pro 5R intake system.
VR525 package with the STOCK air filter:
418.74-rwhp and 412 lb-ft of torque
VR525 package with the GREEN FILTER:
432.91-rwhp and 433.92 lb-ft of torque
+14.17-rwhp and +21.09 lb-ft of torque
VR525 package with the AFE PRO 5R cold air intake:
445.79-rwhp and 445.40 lb-ft of torque
+27.05-rwhp and +32.57 lb-ft of torque
VR525 Green filter vs. aFe Pro 5R
432.91 vs. 445.79-rwhp (+12.88)
433.92 vs. 445.40 lb-ft of torque (+11.48)
As you can see, the Green Filter did a great job over the stock filter, picking up 14-rwhp and 21 lb-ft of torque. That's really a solid gain and brought the numbers up a lot. Of course, the aFe Momentum Pro5R really shined in this test, adding another 12-rwhp and 11 lb-ft of torque over the Green, taking the total gains from just the aFe cold air intake to 27-rwhp and 32 lb-ft of torque with the rest of the VR525 package.
Needless to say, we are now a STOCKING dealer for aFe cold air intakes and we will be a distributor for their entire line of products. By stocking, we mean IN STOCK for all C7 applications, and you can shop them right from our online store. Of course, we will still be offering a ton of other options (including the affordable Green Filters) to ensure our customers get what they want.

27 whp and 32 wtq with a CAI, very impressive. I have the AFE on my car with a ported TB and it pulls... Keep up the good work VR (dang I would love to bolt on a set of ARH long tubes, swore to the wife I would not void the warranty

Awesome results, thank you for sharing! One thing to note, that does not appear to be the Pro 5R filter (oiled blue cotton), but rather the Pro DryS (dry white synthetic).
