Default weaponX LT1-395CFM cylinder heads

We chose to venture into the unknown with a big valve LT1 cylinder head setup. We were getting 350CFM like most out of the OEM valves, and thought, why not go bigger? These LT1 heads really put it down with up to 395CFM at .700 lift!

SEXY!

Default 1,500 miles on the clock, time to get this motor OUT!

With 1,500 miles on the clock and not seeing anyone have gone as in depth to drop the chassis yet, Blake from Big Dog Performance and I got into it!

A shot of the bottom of the weapon7 diffuser - so vaney! loll

wheels down

We carefully removed that beautiful carbon fiber Halltech CKN

Further validating the need for a catch can!

Water pump coming off

This is the reason there are no aftermarket thermostats yet!

Default C7 Exhaust removal

The NPP Z51 exhaust is a nice feature for sound, but it definitely would hinder the performance I'm after. The AFM valve OD is surprisingly small.

Open skinny outlet pipe

A rare look at the e-diff

NPP exhaust and mid pipes out

Default Time to bore the block at BES!

In order to achieve the maximum flow out of the over sized valve heads, I want a larger bore. With the motor out, I then hauled it to Bischoff to be disassembled and the block bored out for new Darton sleeves.

Where are you getting your sleeves? Where your original bores a coated bore or bare?

Default Assembly of the LT1 427!

With the block prepped for some magic, it was time for Brett Vonder Meulen of BES to take the reigns of reassembly.

Darton sleeved LT1 block

Wiseco custom spec pistons with a pretty healthy CR

Callies Magnum crank

Callies Ultra rods

Front cover

Rear cover

Valley cover

Gear

Default The devil is in the details

Before we hang the pistons, Brett carefully checked the piston specs in the block.

Default Specs are perfect, time to let some pistons hang!

With everything well within specs for the LT1 427, next Brett begins loading up the pistons and rods.
