I'm looking forward to the same thing!

There has been a big delay on the crank shaft... I had feared this, but it wasn't supposed to be as bad as it's turned out to be. Ron and the gang at VR have ridden them pretty hard, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

At this rate, I might lose the entire summer.

But again, VR has been top notch about everything. The design process has been fantastic, and they've kept me included on vendor e-mails, etc. Any time a vendor needed an answer or calculation, Ron would have it back to them within the hour.

Ben said the cranks were going to be a nightmare, but we were hoping for the best...

Sean, if this any consolation, and trust me it's not.. I just waited 8 months for a custom billet crank that just showed up... with the incorrect snout on it. Back to the drawing board, but they did apologize for their mistake.

Oh man... Sorry to hear that - that's terrible. Wonder if it's the same manufacturer...

They almost did the same thing here, but Ron's been making sure this gets done right, even with all of the crank manufacturer's excuses and 'issues'.

I waited 9 months for my calles crank. It sucked. Then when I got it they called and said the snout maybe wrong. Turned out to be ok but that was a pucker moment. What annoyed me was I was told 6 weeks more 4-5 times.

That was my same issue, we even emailed confirmed that it had to an LS7 snout so after the original order and a second checking of what was needed, I did not expect a non dry sump crank to arrive.
I'm probably just going to save this one for another build since they take so long, but that's a 4k crank sitting on a shelf.

Yep, got my motor all assembled after a 10 month wait, then Calles calls and said 2 normal snout cranks got shipped out in long snout boxes so there is a 50/50 chance I got the wrong crank. I lucked out, 2 other people did not.

I would have just swapped to a lunati or other brand if I knew but kept getting told only a few more weeks. Once it hit 5-6 months I stopped caring and it was cold outside so it didn't matter.

With the long wait why not go with someone with a better timeline ? Being held up on a build like these is serious... Bad for getting the job done and bad for stress

I would make sure parts are on the shelf. I learned the hard way. Don't trust the companies to keep saying another week, find a crank.

At least that is my opinion.

Alright, positive update. The crank is in-hand after someone at Callies carved it by hand with a chisel.... Joking, but that's how it feels. You wouldn't believe their (Callies') excuses, but I digress...

The bottom line is that everybody has been held up on these (which should finally be over now). Ben was nice enough to offer one of a few that came in a few weeks earlier, but I didn't want to screw the original order up. Hopefully Callies extends a discount on it. I hadn't thought of Lunati, but I've not heard of any shops (directly or by name) using them.

So... Back on track finally. The rest of the engine parts have been sitting and waiting since June.

I've not really been in the best of shape to enjoy it this summer anyway, so even though I wish it was here, I'm not really mad or frustrated about it being gone. It's also been stupidly-hot, which isn't the best on breaking in a new engine (and still FI at that). I do miss petting it, though.

I've heard through the grapevine that only one shop has been able to get custom cranks quickly (and for some time now), but I'm not sure who they're using for it. Just wasn't the shop I had mine hauled to, so no hard feelings. Everyone else that has PMed me with 416/427 builds in progress is still waiting on a crank (or was until the past 2 weeks).

Finally saw Ben's 427 put together, so there's light at the end of the tunnel. Look forward to seeing this in full glory within the next 3-4 weeks!

It doesn't take a crankshaft to win my undying love...

Now that I've seen your pics about the AFM ID/OD neck-down, though, I'm re-thinking the exhaust.
