I'll show you a few tips on application, though - they'll come in handy on the sections you have to put all the way down low.

This part is notoriously annoying. Peel back a small amount of the backing before shoving the piece under the torque tube:

Once the bottom is firmly affixed, peel back the rest of the cover:

Same goes for the side:

Where can you purchase the "panel tool"? Thanks! Very helpful. I just bought my shifter and can't wait to install it.

You can pick them up at auto parts stores, harbor freight, etc. I actually ordered mine cheap off Amazon prior to installing my shifter.

This may have been answered already,

does this shifter cure the 1 -2 shift - I always feel as though the shift from 1 - 2 is a grinding shift. Somedays the shift is nice, somedays the shift feels forced

Thanks for the write up!

Just placed my order today. From day one I was not a fan of the stock shifter. I felt it too long and going from 4th to 5th was an issue for me at top speed. (hit 3rd a few times). With 3000 miles on the car now, I am more comfortable with the stock shifter but still not totally happy so I just decided to make the move and seeing the relative ease of the installation. Will post a follow up after the install.

I started my removal process today. I'll do the install on Wednesday or Thursday. My stock shifter boot was completely torn apart also and with only 4 months / 3000 miles of use.

Just installed mine tonight - took 2 hrs, but I took my time with it. This shifter is WAY better than stock - spend the money and you won't regret it - no more missed 2 - 3 shift and it feels sturdy - much much more than stock. In fact, I thought stock was decent to begin with, but this is on a whole other level

Got the shifter in the mail Tuesday. After dinner I decided to install. Went for a test drive. The shifts were 10X better. Felt much better making the 100 + shifts. No noise issues. I actually added some extra heat/sound sheets while I had the console apart. I highly recommend C7 owners to made this easy mod. You will be very happy with your car.

Do you notice any "2nd to 5th" issues with this new shifter? I know the stock one had some issues with this.

Default If you have a convertible...

...you will need to remove the waterfall.

A couple extra steps are required to remove the console if you have a convertible...

Drop the top and then push the button to raise it back up so that the tonneau cover is pulled back.

Pop out and remove the two tabs on the back of the waterfall

Unscrew the two bolts on the top of the waterfall and lift waterfall straight up

Then, you can proceed to remove the console.

This took me a lot longer than the previously stated 2 or so hours to complete. I probably spent two hours trying to get the stock cover over the MGW Rubber Boot (raw fingers resulting too) - by far, the most difficult part.

Thanks for this but I found out too late. Used the MGW video and broke the console removing the side trim piece.
