Theta, your instruction helped me a great deal in my installation this past Sunday. I can't thank you enough. Your description of the shifter feel is spot on. Its movement is compact, precise and affirmative. At the same time it's also a bit more notchy and requires slightly more force. Perhaps after initial break in it will loosen up and become smoother. Overall, I am very happy with the mod. The quality of material and machining precision of the MGW shifter is military grade. They spared no expenses on anything.

That is an excellent comparison when you said 'military-grade'. This does, indeed, feel like a precision component in a piece of military hardware.

I do think there is a slight bedding-in period of the grease, etc. so you may see it become easier. If you sit in park with the clutch in and just point to a gear, it's already there. I won't have to hunt for 3rd anymore, which will give me a few tenths just from not having to worry about hitting 1st.

LOL.. You are a hell of a lot more patient than me! I also have a suede steering wheel to install along with the suede boot and shift ****. I figure the wheel will go in today if I can find the 1/2" T50 socket. The wheel shouldn't take me more than 45 minutes but the console will be a bit more of a production. As such, I'll rip the console out and do the shifter swap when I have enough time to do it in one fail swoop without distractions. Likely that will be Saturday unless I run out of patience in which case I will do it tomorrow.

As it turned out, I could not wait til Saturday. After work today I decided I was going to rip my console apart and dive right into the shifter. The install went smooth as could be. It took about 1.5 hours but that also included hunting for the necessary tools, taking a couple smoke breaks, grabbing a beer, taking a phone call etc. Oh yea and consulting the manual and a quick look at the MGW install video. If I had all the tools laid out I could have easily accomplished the task in an hour or less.

After all said and done, I am very impressed with the shifter. I will write review shortly but this shifter makes it hard to miss a gear and extremely precise. So that said, I have no regrets and really love the results.

Thanks again for your efforts in putting this instruction together. It made the install much easier if not simple.

Installed mine today. Was going great until I dropped my T-40 bit into the tunnel... A coat hook wire, neodymium magnets, and duct tape saved the day.

Hardwired my V1 as well while it was all apart.

Interestingly the stock shifter boot was completely torn apart. Strange.

Did my MGW shifter today..... as others have said, best money I've spent on the car since I brought it home.

Shifts like a bolt action rifle.

I just might get one for my GT500 as well. MGW does exceptional work.
