I can offer a generic answer

All things being equal, a supercharger give boost pretty much from idle whereas a turbo needs to spin up before you see any real boost.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with more details

I like the simplicity of a supercharger and not having to deal with all the plumbing and heat issues. With the kit I got from A&A Corvettes it included everything. I'm sure there just as equal reasons to go with twin turbos, but since I use mine for a DD and have thousands of miles and smiles with no issues, take it for what it's worth.

I'm sporting about 700hp and got the most awesome running vette I've ever known.

Call Doug @ ECS and go with their kit...A set of headers, supercharger and alky and go enjoy....No worries just go have fun.
I can go into great detail about the plus and minus but if your looking to make more then enough power and dont plan on making your car handle like a shopping cart (drag radials and soft suspension ec...) then just go with ECS!

Supercharger. For $5400 you can have 560-600 RWHP with no other mods and it installs in ~8 hours without any permanent modification to the car. You can remove it in a day if you want to sell the car. It will run with the belt off. I've had one before and have one on order now, they are awesome.

Well, seeing a no one makes a single turbo kit for the C7, your decision is a pretty easy one...

Lashway says they have a single turbo kit for the C7. Don't know if it is shipping yet though. http://www.corvette7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=327926

Lashway Motorsports in South Florida does. Give Erik a call over there. I have personally drove his turbocharged C7 Corvette.

Current turbocharged engines tend to lose upper RPM ranges while current supercharged engines tend to keep the upper RPM ranges. That's why superchargers are used on sports cars while turbos are more often used on sedans.

See, sequential turbos are a turbo for low end and a turbo for high end. But twin turbos are a turbo for each bank of cylinders. So sequential twin turbos would be four turbos ! (Variable geometry turbos are said to make sequential turbos unnecessary but I don't see it happening at a sports car RPM level.)

But a supercharger consumes a large percentage of the power that it makes. And so the supercharged engine is probably higher stressed for the same amount of power than a turbocharged engine.

Here's the ZR1 engine but it's not street legal since it doesn't use a vehicle specific ECM:

however, superchargers rob hp, turbos don't. Get a sequential twin turbo and problem solved.

I prefer a SC, with all the piping and heat involved with the turbocharger and much harder installation and total cost, the SC seems like a better deal.

I'm in the superchager camp. They both can give you 1000+ HP but why would you need that unless your Vengeance. Mine will be a daily driver so 600RWHP is good for my needs. Just got my ARH installed and placed a order for the ProChager unit. It was a tough decision as all three AA, ECS are amazing units. What kind of HP are you looking for.

If you want to be the baddest mfr on the block, then go turbo (twins or single/front or rear mount... Doesn't matter). If you want to be just like every other supercharged vette on the block, then go blower.

Everyone will have a different opinion. Most will only have experience with what they have installed on their personal car and will not be able to give you real world feedback.

I would go visit Redline Motorsports and see if you can get a ride in their SC C7....I am sure they have a few turbo cars they could take you for a spin in as well... Feeling the difference in how the power comes on and how the car performs thru the RPM range will make up your mind.

But that might be a biased answer.

Ah.....the turbo vs. charger debate.....an olde by goodie..

First off cost is a factor...turbocharger systems, especially ones that are well thought out and engineered properly, will always be more then supercharging....this has been the primary reason why supercharging is much more popular....example would be a C6 ZO6....bolt on charger $ 7600-8500.......twins......$14-16K.....quite a jump.

My experience and I'm sure our fellow shops will agree is that the parts that go into a turbo system cannot be compromised. However the cost range can vary quite a bit based on parts selections. We are a dealer for Precision Turbos which we feel are top shelf units. Ball bearing billet wheel turbos will always get smoked out by a pair of Ebay turbos from Radio Shack... piping materials....mild steel vs...304 or 316 stainless....oiling systems...etc...

Right now the best option that provides best economics and great power for the investment will be supercharging...one day install and your on your way! Our TT system for our performance build C7 program is top notch and more geared for big power ahead..

Please let us know if we can be of assistance in your choices!

Howard

Thumbs up for Redline, I've known Howard for many years and he is a top notch tuner and has a fantastic shop down there, so whether you decide Supercharger or Turbo he will take care of you.
