Racing Brake 2PC rotors 10lbs lighter than Z51!
#22
Yes, Ben. I believe you did.
The myth is that rotational weight savings of the rotor are somehow significant.
As descartes said, the diameter of the rotor vs. the diameter of the wheel/tire assembly makes any rotational weight savings of the rotor much less important than rotational weight savings in the tire and/or wheel.
I would also say that the reverence, in other places, paid to reductions in unsprung weight on 3500 lb road cars is also misplaced.
No offense intended, Ben. I am sure you have good products.

No offense taken at all. However, I never said the brakes' weight reduction was more important than the wheels' or tires' weight reduction - in fact they weren't even mentioned. I'm amazed that out of all of the information presented about the benefits of running a true racing 2pc light weight racing rotor, "10lbs of rotational weight savings" is the only thing focused on. descartesfool chose to somewhat derail the thread by spending 20 minutes proving he paid attention in high school physics LOL. As a degreed engineer, I'm well aware of the calculations.
The FACT, not myth is the rotors are the 3rd greatest rotating mass on the C7. Rotational mass, even this close to the center is not a 1:1 ratio. The weight reduction of rotational mass is not even the main benefit of running these rotors. The other information listed above delves into that.

Very fair price IMHO! RB makes a quality product, I ran their pads on a previous car for street & autocross duty.

For those who might not know RB is now producing 2-Piece rotors for a Non Z51 C8 corvette. Just received mine yesterday. Very nice. All four rotors were $2404 including pads and shipping. I'm having them cryo tempered @ $25/rotor. Don't do the pads. Sometimes it causes the friction to separate from the backing plate.
