Default Use caution when dealing with HOUSEOFWHEELS

Use CAUTION when dealing with this vendor.
The tires I just received that were represented by him on the phone as being recent take offs were in fact manufactured in Dec of 2011. 2 1/2 year old tires are definitely not takeoff's from new Stingrays.I have one of the oldest Stingrays on the street and my OEM tires were manufactured in 2013. I have attempted to contact him to address this issue and he has ignored me.

Dispute it with the CC company.

you can use the information on the sidewall to track the origin of the tires. you should do that.

Are these tires actually Pilot Super Sport ZP's or just Pilot Super Sports?

If they are ZP's, I think the reading of the date code is probably wrong as these are a new tire developed specifically for the Stingray.

These were in fact ZP's. This is where it gets interesting as a sticker on one had Jim Mero's name on it. So I believe that these were used on the preproduction models.
If so, they were in fact manufactured in 2011 based on info from the sidewall.

Bob has offered a full credit to me today.
Moral of the story, there are Stingray tires out there that are NOT off a production vehicle.

Good to hear house of wheels did the right thing.

When things go astray it's the manner in which a company rectifies the situation that sets the tone of the company s ethics.

We should be pleased

Glad to hear there was a good outcome.
As for tire date codes, the four digits represent the week and year the tire was made. A date code of 4313 indicates the 43rd week of 2013.

Glad to hear that Bob stepped up to the plate and did the right thing. Have dealt with HOW for years, he's in my part of the State and have always had the best results.

Default Bob

Bob has been honourable in the times I've dealt with him.

I just did a wheel exchange with Bob. I purchased a set of repros with him last year and had no complaints. I haven't looked at the new wheels but he's always been a stand up guy. As the old saying goes "reputation arrives on foot but leaves on horseback" I can only imagine how that has been increased exponentially since the interwebbs and forums.

Well as I said earlier, the tires he sold were not take offs as was implied and told to me on the phone. They were 2 1/2 to 3 year old stock. I'm sure he deals with a lot of tires and wheels and does not personally inspect each one. I'm also sure he relies on what he is told by the person or company that provided them to him.

The bottom line is if the age of the tire matters to you ask for the date code or any other question before you order from anyone and make no assumptions based on a vague description. A return is a hassle no one wants.
