Default 2017 Z51 A8 question

I am the recent proud owner of a 2017 Stingray Z51 A8. How do I discern for sure if I have issues with the tranny? It has 17K miles. I experience a shudder on up and down shifts. My buddy, who has a '16 Z51 says it is fine. His has around 70K miles. His has the shudder also. He is very knowledgeable about Corvettes as he has had more than I have, and he is a racer. He is also a licensed instructor. He does all the upgrades to his cars to enhance their racing prowess.
The shudder isn't severe, but it is definitely obvious. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Type "Triple Flush" into the search bar. You'll find enough information to keep you reading for a couple of days. And I hate to tell you, if your buddy didn't know about this issue he isn't THAT "knowledgeable about Corvettes"!

Congratulations on your "new" C7 purchase! ENJOY!!!

You could try the low cost solution. Some folks have had good results.'

Thanks for the quick response. You may want to reread my post though. I did not say that he was unaware, only that he said my car did not have the issue. Ernie said that the shudder is way more pronounced than what my car does. Said it's more like driving over rumble strips or a railroad crossing. As you mentioned, there are tons of information on the issue in the forum. The funny thing (not) is that the Chevy dealership is unable to find any TSB on the issue. I talked with the service manager after I posted, and I take her there next week. They put a monitor of some type on her, drive her for a while, and that supposedly will verify either way.
Do you have the TSB number so that the dealer can locate it? I hope Ernie is correct, because if there is a problem, it's gonna cost around $800 to change the tranny fluid, and that's in addition to the diagnostic procedure.
Thanks again for getting back to me, and enjoy your Vette!

I missed you ending sentence about enjoying my Vette. I have the 'new' 17, and I still have my 05 Vert! 125K miles and in excellent aesthetic condition and mechanical condition. I'm the original owner and she's been highly maintained from the day I drove her off the showroom floor!
Take care,
Doug

Thanks for the link! My buddy told me about this also, but before I do anything I'm taking her to the dealer next week for diagnosis.
Thanks again!

Try to find the history of maintenance and see if it has had the triple flush.

I'm sorry that my post came across the way it did. My point was that the "shudder" issue is very well known and the reason for it is as well. The Triple Flush procedure is highly recommended and in most instances resolves the issue.

I only know about this because it comes up on the forum frequently! Luckily I have a M7 and don't have to worry about this particular issue. Hopefully, someone that has had the service procedure done will join in and help you with your TSB question.

And again, my apologies to your Corvette buddy!!

Here's a pdf of the TSB with the number.

I did get all invoices from Chevy dealers. The only maintenance done was a replaced windshield wiper motor due to an internal short. Thanks for the tip!

Not to worry, we're good! I would have liked to get an M7 but couldn't find one that I liked for one reason or another. I was "in the hunt" for about ten months before I found this one within 40 minutes of home! I have to say the A8 is awesome.

I thank you very much. I'll print it (or forward it) to the dealer.

Hopefully your friend is right and your car is not experiencing the transmission shudder. But if it turns out it is, the triple flush should help.

I had the triple flush done on mine when I purchased it recently even though it didn't exhibit any problems. The wrong fluid is in the early transmissions and could cause problems at any time due to moisture absorption. In my opinion it is cheap insurance.

Had the triple flush done in 2019 on our 2016 Z51 Automatic. Per the dealer they installed the latest fluid Mobil 1 Syn LV ATF HP 124715.

In addition to that I installed the Range device to keep the engine running as a V-8. At 1500 miles per year I'm not too concerned about fuel economy savings in 4 cyl mode.

Everyone gets to make their own choice.

Is it a transmission shudder or from the V8 to V4 transition?

The "rumble" is not necessarily that obvious. Mine had it and it was quite subtle and very intermittent. Had the triple flush done and now it's as smooth as silk.
