I'm a "manual" guy, which is why I won't have a C8 but when I was looking for my new (to me) C7 I noticed that the manuals are commanding more $ than the autos. Interesting....

Honestly I am a Auto guy only but will not be purchasing a C8 because the C7 is 100% BETTER LOOKING than the C8 IMHO! I think this forum has a lot of manual only fans but the general public likes Autos just as much if not more when it comes to Corvettes in general.

Well, since the C8's are ALL autos (paddles) one would assume that the standards aren't in demand.... the opposite seems to be the case.

I am/was a manual guy also.... I just sold a 68 vet and a 61 Austin Healey,,,,, both were very fun to drive. Two things turned me towards the auto,,,, 1, I am getting old,,,, 2, with all the gears in the new high performance cars,,,, 6, 7, 8 gears I really didn't want to be shifting that much. I have been driving the 2014 vet in manual mode the last few months. I have a theory about why some of the trans are prematurely failing.

I for one would gladly pay a premium for the joy of shifting my own gears. After my C3 M4, C5 M6 and now C7 M7...that's the end of the line for Vette's for me unless GM re-introduces a manual (not holding my breath).

I’d recommend spending more time in a manual.

My M7 often wants me to skip 2nd and 3rd, going straight from 1st to 4th. At that point, I run 4th up a little and go straight to 7th. So it’s more like a 3 speed.

If I want to row gears I can, but there’s enough torque I don’t have to if I don’t want to.

Have you considered installing the skip shift eliminator? First thing I did on my C5 and then again on my C7. You can still skip gears at your pleasure, but I prefer not being forced to do so.

Either transmission type can be very enjoyable - all comes down to a personal preference. Yes, it seems that manual transmission cars tend to command higher prices, and that’s ok. They did not make as many manual shift cars as automatics so that helped. I’ve had a number of both, and got just as much enjoyment regardless of me shifting or the car doing it.

i like auto; i enjoy keeping eyes on the road with both hands on steering wheel

i enjoy the ride rather than "work" the ride

also, manual shifter is feels "heavy" to my delicate kitten hands

Just push first gear. I rarely see the first to fourth shift skip...

Some years ago when I fractured left fibula(Actually I did twice in last 5 years), I could not drive MT for some months. Now I have both MT and AT. Different cars tho. So when I fracture next time I still drive C7 auto

My buddy who's had a C4 M6 for 30 years never put one in...he does exactly as you said. I drive mine pretty well as a daily driver for the 9 non-winter months, and sometimes in traffic, so happier not to have to worry about it.

Mine is basically a 5 speed. I'm rarely in 6th and never in 7th.

I guess some call it work and some call it fun.

The C8's aren't automatics. They have a paddle shift dual clutch manual transmission which is not anything like a slush box. But yes, I prefer 3 pedals too.

Agree, I always start off slowly or sometimes faster reving to about 3 grand and then shift to second. Never any issue with the lock out. My Challenger was more sensitive so I did a skip shift eliminator in that.

I have considered it. As this is just a toy, the computer telling me to skip 2nd and 3rd doesn’t bother me.
