How Much Weight Can Be In Cargo area?
Wanting to haul some things home this weekend in the back, be about 480 lbs. Is this too much for the cargo area? Looked in owners manual but I did not find anything.

The max load capacity for a C7 is roughly 500lbs. This weight includes the driver and passenger so the actual weight the car can carry is closer to 300lbs assuming a 200lb driver and no passenger.

That seems really low.

I’m 220 and my son is about the same. So we are overloaded going to a golf tournament with our clubs and bags and drink cooler.
I was more concerned with how much weight the cargo area can tolerate.

If the cargo is well spread out and the load is distributed, the tub is pretty darn strong and is probably fine with 250lbs. You start pushing the 300-350 mark combined with a few good bumps in the road and the tub is going to be stressed. Almost 500? Phew....I wouldn't do it.
Pic of a load sticker for a 2019 Corvette. Note the 525lbs.

Smart decision to skip using the Vette like a work truck. Better safe than risk doing some damage to the car.

Yeah, but there are a lot of times that I'd much rather drive my Stingray than the dang Honda Pilot so I understand. A year or so ago I had an opportunity to buy 10 cases of ammo 2 hours away. It is 2 hours of mostly beautiful country roads w/ one 30 minute stretch of switchbacks going over a mountain. The Honda is just a chore, the Stingray is just a blast. I put 2 of the 30# cases on passenger seat, 2 on the floor, and spread 6 over the cargo area as far forward as possible. I had a really enjoyable 4.5 hour drive in the Stingray.

I was just trying to save a trip. I don’t mind driving my coal burner but would rather drive the Vette.
First thing I did before I looked for a C 7 was to make sure 2 sets of clubs would fit!

Two full size golf club bags were part of the design criteria! No joke.

So I had a bunch of carbide inserts in coffee cans to sell for scrap and I had a 45 minute ride so I very much wanted to be in the vette. (machine shop scrap) This stuff is WICKED heavy and I think I had about 300 pounds.
And although the weight itself was not an issue the distribution was a problem. It kind of pushed down and deformed the trunk base because apparently it's not perfectly supported underneath.
(I just mean that stiff, carpet like floor cover, not something structural btw)
I never knew until I put a dozen or so coffee cans with 40 pounds of carbide in each one back there and saw how much it was pushing down the base.
Fortunately nothing was permanently deformed so the car is fine, and it certainly rode just like normal (I weigh 170 and was alone)
so anyway, If your cargo was very evenly distributed I would not hesitate to do that, but if it's oddly shaped stuff the trunk area doesn't do well with concentrated weight.

That’s why I asked because I didn’t know if there was much support under the carpet.
I did know enough about it to stay away from battery and storage areas.
