I’d like to believe that, but my tech, who I’ve known for years, had twenty-some empty Mobil1 bottles sitting around my car when I walked back there

Do yourself a well deserved favor. Drain a cup full and send it to the nearest lab that does oil analysis. Every medium city has one, You will be told exactly what it is. Do that before driving yourself nuts.

ps. What's supposed to be in there, ATF? You know what ATF smells like - nothing at all like gear oil, which can smell like an NFL jockstrap. Have you put this stuff between your fingers yet?

Dan

I know exactly what's in my trans. The blue label Mobil1 trans fluid as per the last GM TSB from April 2020.

Actually the newer manual transmissions use ATF.

The TSB specifically calls for 24 quarts.

I would hope this dealer would not be in business if they made that mistake often.
I don't care how many they made. I want one and wouldn't own a Corvette without a manual transmission...

Sometimes hard to detect sarcasm in a post but you almost got me on that one

Just curious why the manual trans talk. The TSB applies only to the A8. Is OP’s car a M7? Did I miss that?

They might have put in manual trans fluid in the auto.

Part numbers for fluid from my 2019 manual..
ATF 19331925
MTF 88861800
These number may be superseded

A small bit of google time did indicate the mtf may be an alternative to the aft but don't take that for a fact.
If there was a shortage of atf the mft may work.

He mentioned that he had given them a play by play of what he wanted done, did that include a part number for fluid??.

Quote from op.....That's the problem. After spoon-feeding them all the info about the triple flush TSB they still messed it up, so I have no confidence that they'll actually be able to make it right.

I don't know if the op has spoken to the dealer yet but should be simple enough for them to confirm what fluid was used.
Spot check for inventory on hand...for the part numbers for the fluid at least.

Figure out what needs to be done. Take the time off and insist you WATCH what is being done. I wonder why I like watching them even if it is the grassy knoll through a scope until I have confidence is THE TECH and not THE DEALERSHIP. Don't listen to a word the SA says. All he is good for is making the appointment.

Unclecookie I am wondering why you had the wiring harness replaced because my 2017 stingray went into limp mode about two weeks ago and it is still at the Chevy dealer waiting to be worked on. They mention that the wiring harness may be bad. Could you tell me some of the symptoms that your car displayed.

Me neither and I'm not curious about what any jock strap smells like.

I've only owned the car since October. Since I bought it I always thought the transmission didn't shift right especially when it was cold. It seemed to slip shifting from 1st to 2nd.. After a short time of ownership, the transmission cooling fan began coming on all the time, no matter what the temp was. Eventually the check engine light came on and stayed on. That's when I took it back to the dealer and found out about the wiring harness.
