Default Where does your coolant gauge sit at?

Mine always sits here or less. As hot as it gets New 15-11113 OEM thermostat. I remember my previous C7 hovering in the 220 mark range.
Does this look okay or is it running too cool? It had a 160 thermostat by a previous owner and I didn't like the way it ran cold. Not sure if I need to have the fan turn on looked at. It may be tuned along with the 160 thermostat.
Car is not giving me any issues whatsoever, but want to make sure.
A tuner said he would correct it for $200 if it's off. $100 for labor and $100 for 2 HP Tuner credits.

not sure why my last C7 ran hotter.
Maybe i should save $200 and not worry about having it looked at. Thanks for the reply.

Put your display in Touring Mode so you can read the digital gauges on the right side of the digital speedo. You will get a much better reading of the actual temperature as the resolution of the gauge is far better. The analog gauge you are referencing works off a signal converted from the digital data that streams to the digital gauge.

2019 GM Promotional Picture

I was driving my 2015 Z06 (no analog coolant display available) yesterday afternoon with the speed set at 75 mph, the M7 in 7th gear, cruise set, mid 50s ambient temp and the coolant temp was reading 186 deg F. Oil temp was reading 176 deg F. I rarely see over 200 degree coolant temp when driving on the street and usually see coolant temps in the 220 range when I am on track for at least 5 minutes with oil temps running in the high 260s. Stock thermostat with GMPP Secondary Radiator in place.

In the 2019 GM picture you posted, the gauge seems to be running where mine does.
I will for sure try the touring mode though.

Mine runs a notch below 220 as well. Always seemed a little high but it's normal.

I did the touring mode and my temp at stop and go traffic was 195 to 199. CarMax subco tech ( a company called LEAD TECH) said his scanner was indicating that the fans were cutting in at 201. Factory spec is 204. So it's within range.
Got on the interstate with outside temperature at 40 cruising at 70MPH and my reading dropped to 180.
Sounds about normal to me at this point.

I just had my thermostat replaced with the stock 194F one so my water temp is usually the same as the OPs picture.

That's where my last C7 would sit at, right at 220.
It seems the digital readout in Touring mode as Bill suggested is quite a bit more accurate.

Your gauge is indicating that the water coolant temp is at 190*.

Just the temp that the thermostat is opening.

Given some tolerances your GTG.

There are other threads on here that explain it, but the analog is only a general indicator. The digital gauge is what's exact. So always look at that if you want real numbers.

As memory serves, right around 200, with the oil very slightly higher.

My 14 Z51 m7 lazily ran up to 185 on the digital gauge, meanwhile the analog just parked right under 220. After having the max fan run on and zero temp readout problem and a subsequent thermostat change, it now runs about 215 (digital) and the same just under 220 analog reading.

Revisiting this once more.
Took the car for a nice drive this morning at 35* outside temp.
The car heats up fairly quickly just enough to eliminate the tach bar.
So what I notice in touring digital readings, my temp will run up to 184 then drop to 174 then to 184 again and so on.
The thermostat is brand new OEM 15-11113.
Is this a normal range or is it a bit on the cool side?
If the new thermostat is being triggered too soon, I don't know what's a good brand to replace it with.

You might have an air bubble trapped in the system.
Try using a vacuum pump ‘AirLift’ to remove any trapped air.
