SLK Tinted LED Marker Lights

SLK Tinted LED Marker Lights
I've been wanting some tinted LED marker lights for my Stingray for a while but but read about the TPMS issues on the cheaper brands. I didn't consider the Oracle brand because of the pricing and the fact that they don't offer the painted Arctic White which I would have paid extra for. I found these on Amazon and decided to try them out. I have an electrical engineering background so I thought I would give them the best chance of not interfering with the TPMS by wrapping the backs with copper foil. So far there have been no issues and the lights look great. The fitment was really good and they don't protrude out any more than the OEM lights did. I don't know about water resistance or how long they will last yet since I just put them on.
The copper is a copper adhesive tape I also got from Amazon. It's pretty easy to work with and cuts with scissors.
The lights: I just thought I would share in case anyone else is looking for marker lights.

I installed a front and rear side marker set and love them. When not on they are blacked out, when on,,, full length bright light. These are a good add on and can be changed back to stock if you want.

Hopefully it works for you without issue. Are they a full strip of lights or similar to the OEM, just two dots?
Oracle used to offer a "ghosted" in arctic white, but stopped because of issues with the white yellowing over time. I can speak first hand that there has been no yellowing issue with the set I have (may have been one of the last sets sold).

Wow! Those look awesome! That's the look I wanted but yeah, they stopped selling the white right before I got my C7. Sorry I should have mentioned that these are the full strip of LEDs and they are really bright at night. Yellow LEDs for the front and red LEDs for the rear.

So Jason did you drive with them unwrapped and they failed and then you wrapped them and they didn't cause any issues ? I thank you for doing this and posting it, it may help out quite a few members, me included. I think a while back one of our brothers did try using some sort of metal tape to no avail.
Which brand tape did you purchase on Amazon, there are a number of brands and there are 1 in. and 2 in. wide versions. I was thinking of getting the 2 in. wide vs, the inch to help wrap mine.
Any extra help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Rich

How long have you been driving with them and how far each time? Hwy driving or city driving. There was a thread about the front right TPMS going on and everyone tried everything including myself to prevent it with no luck. Didn’t use the copper tape more like foil also used forgot what you called them like a clamp in all different sizes to try and block and that didn’t work. Do you think the copper would make that big of a difference? I wrapped all my lights and the front right TPMS light still comes on. But it doesn’t come on constantly. I have to be driving awhile on the Highway. Just don’t know if it’s worth taking them all out and redo with copper thoughts thanks

The issue with the “less expensive” side maker lights causing TPMS faults on certain model years is related to the frequency that the LED emits is in the range of the front/right TPMS and that interferes with the receiver. I don’t recall when GM changed the frequencies. Maybe after 2017? I had a set in my ‘15 from Amazon(China) that would set the fault fairly consistently at night while driving at highway speeds. I wound up biting the bullet and getting Oracles.

I'm not sure if I want to go through that ordeal again. Having to remove the stock lights, now tape the JW Motorsports install them and find that they don't work just as before. Are you certain this will stop all of the issues with the lights ??
Thank you again,

No and I have the same ones you have. The only issue I have is the TPMS light comes on showing the front right tire is low. It doesn’t do it constantly, but I know it just a matter of time and it’s usually when I’m on the highway. I just bought some copper tape and I’m going to give it a try one last time. It’s been awhile and I have my front canards off ( installing new carbon flash front spats) so what the heck. The funny thing is I’ve had a set of Oracles and never put them on yet. They stick out a little bit compared to these and I like how well these lay and sit flush. If this doesn’t work I may try to dremel down the oracles a hair and change them. I saw a guy on YouTube do it and they looked perfect. I’m scared I’ll probably screw them up Lol I did ask my Corvette tech and he said with the TPMS on it wouldn’t harm anything and I could drive with the light on. You just don’t know if your tire is ever low. I just keep an eye on it and it is really flaring up my OCD!! What a pain in the ***!!!

Subscribing to this thread. I have the side maker lights from JW Motorsports and occasionally get the TPS light z(RF). The copper tape could be the answer. A link to the specific tape used would be appreciated.
