Sent an email with your original question to Range technical support and their answer was to remove the device when using the vehicle health feature when using the “My Chevrolet” app.

I just remove my AFM defeater after I use auto. I drive mostly in manual but sometimes in town, I like auto so I plug it in. I keep it in the cubby behind the screen so it's not a big issue. After a little practice, you can easily insert it from the driver's seat.

Plugging something into the OBD port can cause weird issues.
We bought the Valentine OBD connector to power our detector. It didn't put info into the OBD port, just took a little power out.
That caused all sorts of little electrical gremlins like wildly incorrect tire temperature readings and several other issues that took a while to understand.
I removed the connector and did a simple hard wire on the Valentine, no more problems.
