Default What is this in the c7 glovebox? Insulation?

Was hearing a clicking noise when my fan was blowing so I opened the glove box. Some papers had been caught and I removed them and the noise went away, but a few were stuck to adhesive on the top of the inside of the glove box, i pulled them off and started pulling at what I thought were jammed napkins, but I think it may be insulation. Does anyone know what is in the attached pics and if it can be replaced? It is not the cabin filter from the inside, i had the cabin filter replaced today and this stuff did not change.

Not exactly sure but some interior panels in the C7 have a white insulation/sound deadener attached to the backside.
I noticed this when I took off my lock pillar panel (shown below). That may be what you are seeing.

Came to $90 total for the change, $52 for the filter, $38 for the labor. I have a GS so I know they need to detach some of the lines in front of the filter (same with Z06). Didn't feel like it was too expensive, especially since this was my first cabin filter change in 4 years...I believe the stingray's are much easier and would probably just have done it myself if there was no line detachment involved.

For what it's worth, there is no line that must be disconnected. I just lifted it up and pushed in the new filter. (2019 GS vert) Happy New Year!

Get a cabin air filter with activated charcoal or baking soda to absorb odors.
