drivers side of dash panel falling apart
I have a 2014 C7 Z51 and the dash panel side that can only be seen with the drivers side door open is rotting away. any idea how or why this is happening and any fiix? looks really bad.

First time I've seen this. If I'm spitballing I would guess C7 had leaking windshields it looks like water damage maybe. I can't think what else would do this it's literally protected unless you open the door

I have to agree with you here. It appears that there is mold growing underneath. Not sure what else the black stain on the foam could be.

That's from a window or seal leak. Mine will leak water if the top is put on differently (still not sure what makes it leak/not leak). My passenger side has shrunk a bit and looks like yours. I'm tempted just to remove the piece since it isn't visible with the doors closed anyway.

Water and sun. I've seen vettes with the window control, seat memory control etc. stop working for leaving the car in the rain.

Really, your passenger side looks the same?? terrible and i will check if the top is on correctly. I found a some what solution and ordered some carbon fiber wrap/tape from amazon and should make it look better. i will send a pic when ready.

I would ensure that the driver side A pillar trim piece and rubber molding do not have any damage and are installed properly. This may be the cause of your water damage. Video shows how to remove A pillar.

Crazy idea but take it to a high pressure car wash and see if anything comes in while you are seated.

Sure looks like you have had a bunch of water get in that area and damage the door panel. Perhaps some bad weatherstripping, windshield not sealed properly or the door panel not aligned properly.

Considering that Corvette owners are so scared of driving the car in the rain, how does that much water get in? When I took my C4 to the car wash, you get a squirt of water coming in both of the windows near the bend at the top. Beyond that, it doesn't leak. So it might take quite a bit of water to do that, I would think if you are thinking rain.

While the suggestion that there is water damage causing the skin on the dash side piece to come up, it may be another issue. Given that you have a 2014 (new model and suppliers may not have their glue systems fully calibrated yet), it looks to me that the glue holding the skin in place was not adequate to hold the skin in place over time. This is the same issue with the dash on 3LT interiors. The yellow in the picture appears to be old glue that could not hold the skin in place. Suggest you find replacements in a auto junk yard. Good luck.
