I decided to paint the C7 logo on my hood insulator rather than buy a custom hood insulator or a metal logo that attaches. This was accomplished with $15 worth of acrylic craft paint and small paint brushes. Start to finish it took a little over 2 hours including removal and reinstalling. The paint does hold up over time. I also did this on my C5 and it still looked fresh when I sold the car more than 15 years later.

Looks great and very hard to beat the price. Can you post the brand of paint that you used and approximately how much of each color? Thanks.

Vette man Jack….I used 2 Oz bottles Deco Art Americana acrylic paint purchased at Michaels in Slate Gray, Tuscan red, Antique Gold and black. I used the most slate gray which was about a third of the bottle.

JLSuperfly….It’s actually a lot easier than most would think. The lines to follow are already there. It’s almost like paint by numbers. I started with the outline in slate gray. Did the bow tie in gold and then filled in the left side with red leaving the emblem on the upper right flag black and painting red around it. The last step is using black to clean up anything that might be outside the lines.

It will be interesting to see how well acrylic holds up to the heat.

I did this on my C5. However I first painted the area with a black spray paint then did the logo. The spray paint stopped the brushed-on paint from soaking into the hood liner.

Spray painting the liner black before using paint pens will keep the white and silver brighter for a lot longer.
