Default Advice on 2014 purchase

Looking at a 2014 base convertible tomorrow. Around 22k miles. Selling my C6 2006 mint 3lt convertible with 50k mikes. I know we sometimes lump all gens together, like C7s. Is there anything specific I should be aware of being the first year of C7? I think the 2014 avoided the bent and cracked wheel problem. I'm not 100% on that. Thanks in advance

I certainly don't know all the 'watch out' issues for the 2014, but I can tell you that I purchased a 2014 Stingray Coupe (1LT) in early June and I LOVE IT! Yeah, I'm in the process of upgrading the FE1 suspension to something not so flacid, and working on some aero pieces front and rear to give it a bit more 'look'. But running and driving-wise, its a great car! Definitely more refined than my '06 was. Enjoy and drive safe!!

I just purchased 2014 coupe few months ago. It has the same automatic transmission as C6 so you wont have the issues with the A8 on 2015/16 models. I love the car mine is 3lt. The only drawback is that you do not have the PDR and app additions of the other C7s. You also will not have onstar or app additions since it does not have 4LG service. It is a very strong 1st year model. Even review high marks from all of the reviewers. 3lt owners have complained about the delamination of the leather dash, although I have not experieced it

Also I traded in my 13 C6 for the 14. What a difference. I would add the Mild to wild to it to increase the exhaust sound. Best 80 dollars spent

Thank you. I know all years have baked in issues, like the harmonic balancers in C6s. So trying to go in with eyes wide open.

All Stingray's in general avoided the bent/cracked wheel problem. That is only with the wider GS and Z06's. The 14's had the 6 speed transmission (assuming it's auto) and I'm told they're pretty solid. When you say base I assume 1LT? If that's the case then you won't have to worry about the 3LT dash delamination. Overall, the 14's are a pretty solid car with no particular problems to set them apart from the rest.

Thank you all for your time. I've been on this for for a long time after 4 corvettes (maybe 5th tomorrow). And I've always been appreciative of the forum's willingness to share information with others.

A few comments:

What was not available on 2014:
- PDR. (Nav was optional 1/2LT, standard 3LT)
- front parking cameras
- Apple CarPlay
- Android Auto
- some of the DIC displays - like Track with digital oil pressure & temp, coolant temp, oil pressure, trans temp, tire pressures
- mag ride optional on Z51 only
- perf exhaust NPP was optional (mild to wild only works with NPP exhaust)

18/19 wheels standard on base, small spoiler (late '14 option for 19/20 wheels, bigger spoiler)

All of this said, I had no issues with my 2014 except for 2 recalls. The car was solid and a step up from my 2006 C6.

GL

Contrary to many of the first year models on a new generation, the 2014 has been very reliable. There are plenty of threads already posted wihich discuss this. Just have the car checked over like you would on any used car and go from there.

I am 2 weeks into ownership of my new to me 14 and loving it. Can someone tell me what the "mild to wild" modification is? Mine has NPP but wouldn't mind a little more noise - have been considering a catless x pipe down the road. Thanks.

Bought our 14 last July... Wish we would have bought a 16 or newer for Android Auto & Apple CarPlay... Everything else, winner winner chicken dinner.

2014 with 55k miles and no major issues. The A6 trans can develop the shudder but the Triple Flush fixed it.

Mild to Wild kit for C7's with NPP exhaust is just a wireless remote kit so you can open and close the valves whenever you want. The kit is $80. What I did with my Base C7 with NPP was just pull fuse 42 which controls the valves. With this fuse pulled the valves are open all the time and the car sounds great. I did not think the car was ever too loud with them open because when you are just idling through a neighborhood there is not much sound to begin with. This mod is free since all you do is pull the fuse.

A great source of info is Vetteman Jack.. he has been known to drive a beautiful 2014 C7

Instead of spending money, cutting holes and mounting a box, check out what the Forum Members came up with and build your own Valve switch and use your homelink buttons to control it. Mine is last post.

I have a 2014, and had a C6 before. It is a very nice car of which I have had no problems. Mine is the 3LT with the Z51 pkg. Yes, its true that it doesn't have PDR and other features that later model cars have, but I don't care. I don't miss all those other features since I have never had them to begin with.

It's actually a 2LT. It has some tasteful aftermarket pieces like front grill and splitter, and black ground effects plus tail lights. Seems super clean and well maintained.
Due to the holiday, can't pick it until Wednesday grrrr..

Me personally, I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 16 with a 2LT trim because that was the last of the electronic goodies that came out. The transmission problem was because the fluid wasn't the right sort and a triple flush usually fixes the problem or prevents one.
