Yes. battery. I have a 2019 and the battery went bad. 7,000 miles. Made the replacement through warranty by two weeks. I drove that car a bunch of miles one weekend. Went to go for a drive three days later and it was all over. The door didn't want to open but a few button pushes it did open. Went to start it and the outside lights are flashing light a cop car. I checked the voltage, had 10.2 volts. Must have dropped one cell.

Slynky, you might not need it again for 5 or 6 years, but if you have to purchase one, I've found this style battery carrier to be the best; and though I've never used one on our C7, I've no doubt it would be ideal for removing and reinstalling the awkwardly located battery.

Another style that would work well is this -

Fat chance. He's changing the battery in the C7. Minimum of 5 swear words per 10 minute interval. Geeze...

I get 5 swear words in just getting to the battery.

If your reading ~3.4 volts with the battery connected and full voltage ~12.8 volts with the battery negative cable disconnected your battery has probably suffered a inter cell connection failure. ie: an open between two or more cells.

Just had this happen on my 17 with the original battery which was always on a maintainer and has always started strong, Note: the maintainer would not have made any difference in preventing this issue for this was more than likely a structural internal connection failure between cells.

When I pushed the start button, the starter motor made an attempt to engage and then all electrical systems went dead. Everything went dead. For a moment I thought my C7 had the curse of Lucas Electrics better known in the automotive world as "The Prince of Darkness" I believe this is when the interconnect between cells failed and opened. Had to use the emergency door release to get out.

Removed the battery from the car and the no load voltage read ~12.8 volts. Connected my trans conductance battery tester and it read that I had ~70 CCA which I don't believe it was even that high due to the fact that these tester can give false readings when trying to measure such low CCA's. These units were designed to measure CCA in the 200 to 800 range of typical car / motorcycle batteries. I then connected my battery charger set to 10 amps and the battery would only pull ~1.5 to 2 amps but the battery voltage immediately read 14.4 volts.

Note: all electrical systems worked prior to pushing the start button and the car started and ran fine two days before.

Battery is toast.

But if I could only get to the interconnect between the cells, Hummm......................

The OEM battery in my 2015 C7 failed suddenly as well. Always on a CTek maintainer. Battery was 6 years, 7 months old. Started up fine one afternoon and started to drive home. The PDR would not let me start a recording but I ignored that and proceeded to home. Parked it in garage for the night. Came out the next morning to a totally dead battery, wouldn't do anything including popping the door. Plenty of battery stories on this forum and mine followed the classic scenario. Went to the parts store and one hour later had a new battery in the car and everything was fine. Replacing the battery is not as difficult as some make it out to be.

It can happen - did just that on the 2015 Impala I had. Battery went dead overnight.

Remember, the bear minimum of swear words required is its at least 5 just before entering the garage because you already know that your in for and thus your now ahead of the curve!

If you don't have the battery carriers a vice grip wrench on each terminal work pretty good for removing the battery. Remember to put the plug on the vent side of the battery and hookup the vent tube on the other side. These batteries are fairly easy to install and not as bad as I thought by reading other posts. I installed a new AGM interstate battery in mine from which I purchased from Costco a couple of days ago.
