c7 engine dress up; a specific quesion, please?
As you can tell, I am very new to the engine dress up process..
My question is, from your experience (or not), do you recommend buying painted pieces from some of the vendors or removing pieces on my car and having them painted locally (in my area). Of course, the skill of the painter, plays into it, but I can't imagine it is that difficult laying down several pieces and spraying them.
Sorry, another question: on the plenum covers, I see the logo of the stingray. Is this painted on, airbrushed, ?
Thank you for any information you can share. I am still learning.

I bought my painted engine pieces already painted. Just easier that way for me. Sure a local painter could take your pieces, sand them down and then put the paint on them - not sure how much labor costs would be involved in the start to finish process, but you would save some by not having to buy the parts themselves.
The graphics are painted on and I think the painter paints the underlying color the color of the graphic, puts a template down that blocks off the graphic design then sprays the other color, leaving the graphic color visible when the template is removed. That is just my guess - could be totally wrong on how they do it.

I have spent hundreds of dollars with RPI they do great work but you are looking at 7 to 8 week to get back the painted parts all there products are air brushed and clear coated well worth it

Melting Slicks
I’ve done both. I bought from RPI designs BUT I also had a man (Steve Ray ) airbrush my plenum covers , hood liner and cargo net shade. He has since retired from doing that type of work but I know two others that also do a fantastic job. PM me and I can give your their fb accounts to look at their work. I sent you pictures of my hoodliner and engine bay in pm.
