I was advised by Forgeline to run 35psi in my tires (rather than the "door sticker" 30psi) after installing new F01 Flow-forged wheels. Explanation from a Forgeline rep was that it was "better for the wheels". Don't know if there's any relation to cast aluminum OEM wheels.

30 psi cold is best, 40 not recommended.

Simple... just run what it says on the door sticker. Why do otherwise?

Worse. Run 30 psi cold as recommended on the sticker on the door jamb.

Higher air pressure will stiffen the tire and transmit even more road shock to the wheel the tire is mounted on.

Me too. Seems to me that too much air simply transmits more forces to the wheels and suspension all the time due less damping from the tire sidewalls. But less likely a really huge impact force causes so much sidewall deflection that the wheel itself makes contact with whatever the tire hit resulting in immediate wheel damage. JMHO
We've had this happen twice on our 2017 Z51 with Michelin AS3+ tires.
In each case, the tire still held air! In one case the wheel was very slightly bent, tire shop said they could balance it out but I chose to have it straightened and it's been fine since then. Tires were 30 psi cold. Z51 wheels are apparently the only forged factory wheels in the whole C7 production run, made necessary by larger Z51 brakes. Too bad the Z06/GS didn't have the same clearance "problem". Or maybe they did but GM was too cheap to do the wheels properly.

One thing to keep in mind with recommended "cold" tire pressure, once the tires heat up, so does the tire pressure.
Weather temperatures play a part, but with 30 PSI "cold" for example, depending on the weather, and how long the drive is without stopping, etc. , that 30 PSI "cold" can go as high as 35 PSI ... or more.
The reason for recommended tire PSI on the door jam, is because it's calculated for optimum "running" temperature/s above the "cold" PSI.
PSI on the door jam varies with OEM tires and the vehicle it self.
Slightly higher or lower than recommended "cold " PSI can have its advantages depending on Tracking or Street use, but extremely higher or lower PSI will have side effects with uneven tire wear, ride, and handling.

There is no formal survey, but I'd guess that something like 75% of the tires reported damaged this way, have been the Michelin AS3+ runflat. Including two separate instances for me. Sure, that's a popular tire. but not that popular.
