Default Why Can't People Refer To Their Car The Proper Way, 1LT, 2LT etc..

Maybe I'm nit picking here but are people oblivious to the cars they buy and own? Time after time it is "I have a LT3 or LT2" when describing their options or car. On purpose if someone tells me they have the LT1 package I say that's not the package, that's the motor in the car. (Fully knowing what they are talking about but I don't let on)

If you’re nit picking it’s an engine not a motor.

I think some who aren't as articulate as others mix up LT1 (motor) and 1LT (trim). Imagine the confusion they would have with Michelin tire naming conventions LOL

It's just a quick way to tell if you should warrant giving someone the time of day. Can't even articulate the trim level of your car? Not worth bothering.

Luckily 1LT vs 2LT vs 3LT aren't important to me.

what about transmission designation?

It's 7MT, 6AT, and 8AT.

Y'all talking about cars with your M7, A6, and A8.

This is the first time I've seen it this way. I always see it as M7, A6 or A8. I would understand your point if this was a BMW or Audi forum, but....

Corvette forums are the first and only place I've ever seen auto/manual referred to as such.

This one bugs me in the Camaro forum, but some people call their cars Camero.

Many don't care about GM's terminology... including myself. You asked...

Yeah, and how about BRAKES / BREAKS, PEDDLE / PEDAL, and STUTTER / SHUDDER,

Too much reliance on spell checkers I guess.

Post to a thread or don't - no one is making you...

Amusing is that GM has a Camaro model named the LT1 after the engine lol

I think the best thing to do is continue to patiently educate people. Some are new and learning as they go - not everyone who joins a forum is an expert - in fact, likely quite the opposite. I think most Corvette owners do not wish to remain ignorant of their cars especially if they're reaching out for advice or feedback. There is a lot to learn about these cars depending on your level of intent and ability.
