Default Looking for a good tire gauge

What would you recommend?

The first choice, of course, is between digital and analog.

Is one more accurate than the other?

After that, what are some reputable brands?

I don't need anything super-expensive, just a gauge that will help me keep my Z06 pressures at 30 psi.

Currently, they start (cold) at 30, then rise up to 34 upon driving.

Thoughts?

Recommendations?

Deflate them to 27 and then se what they read after warm up? I like the cheap pencil gauges personally. I got a three pack and tossed the one that was inconsistent. That and a tire inflator that has a set point shut off.

I have digital and analog. I find they are both accurate. Sorry if I was not any help.

I'm super **** about the tire pressure on my cars. I have a Longacre digital gauge that measures in 0.1 pound increments. It's expensive; but it's extremely high quality & I love it.

I also recommend Longacre.

I have this one. 1/2lb increments and pressure relief valve features are nice

Thanks for the recommendation for the Longacre product. Will have to look at that one as I too could use a good tire gauge.

make sure you only have one, because if you have two then you'll notice they don't read the same, leading you to buy a third...

Here's my alternate take on this issue:

Yeah, I have the usual digital and analog tire pressure gauges, some of which are quite accurate.

But you already have TPMS in your wheels ... I recently acquired an Autel TS508 (was "moving" some wheels from one Ford truck to another, and the TPMS protocols are different on the two vehicles, so I had to reprogram the TPMSes, then have the vehicle relearn), and in doing so, I realized that it's even less effort (compared to conventional gauges) to just walk up and scan the TPMS sensor with the TS508. No need to unscrew the caps, get my fingers dirty, etc.

The TS508 works with all TPMS systems.

Something to consider ...

Most of the gauges (cheap or expensive) have about the same accuracy. The difference is in the resolution:
Accuracy is the sensor's or instrument's degree of veracity – how close a measurement gets to the actual or known value. To check the accuracy means to check how close a reported measurement is to the actual value. Resolution on the other hand is The smallest distinguishable change the sensor can detect and display.

If a gauge isn't calibrated against a known standard that is referenced back to a National Standard you really don't know what the accuracy is. So choose a gauge that provides repeatable readings, good resolution and is easy to read. That can drive you to more expensive gauges. A digital gauge doesn't provide any more accuracy, however, it does provide a higher degree of resolution. I usually favor digital gauges but there are analog pressure gauges on the market that provide great resolution, are easy to read and have pressure relief valves that let me adjust pressure without removing the gauge from the tire valve. For track duty, I use this gauge all the time:
https://www.longacreracing.com/produ...%9d-Tire-Gauge

Here are the specifications for the gauge:

When I purchased mine a few years ago it was quite a bit less expensive and did include the foam-lined stainless steel carrying case that I can throw in the back of the truck. Being analog I don't have to worry about batteries dying while I am at the track. At the track I use it to set morning cold pressures and then adjust hot pressures. I set the Pirelli Slicks at about psi cold with the idea the pressure will rise to about 32 psi hot while on track.

They also have digital versions. It looks like Amazon has a discontinued Longacre 0-100 PSI digital gauge for $48:

Besides the big difference in price, what's the difference between the gauge you suggested above, and the one sold below? They both are from the same company and go up to 60 psi.

I have this one. Pricey but accurate and has a relief valve to allow you to dial the pressure in as you're checking it.

Motion Pro has been my go to gauge. About $100 or a little less. I've use the digital and compared it several Longacre gauges that friends had at the track. Not the best way to calibrate but all gauges were within 0.2 psi of each other. I run between 16 psig, rear, and 32 psig, front,on my dunlop tires at the track (motorcycle not vette). The take away here is to use the same gauge consistently. Read the tire wear and adjust pressures accordingly.

I notice that the face is 1" larger, and the hose 3" longer.

Anything else?

I bought six of these and they all read identical pressures. I have used them for over 10 years. I replaced the batteries last year. They all still read identical pressures. One of the few things,I am glad I bought.
