Default Help me identify this hose not connecting to aFe Intake

As the alert reader can see from this picture, there is a hose on the left, front of the engine that goes from a quick disconnect on the cylinder head to a quick disconnect on the resonator. It is called "Driver Side Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Part Number: 12670908" It was long enough for the OEM resonator, but clearly not long enough for the aFe system. If I connect the hose, even that little misalignment pulls the bellows clearly off center of the throttle body. I want the bellows dead on to the TB.

aFe support seems oblivious to the issue, I've sent 3 pictures and they send back ineffective emails about re-routing the hose. Hell, it's a straight run!!. . . oh forget it!

So, hive mind of Corvette Forums. What solution do you all propose? Is there a way to put a different fitting on the resonator, or a safe method of extending the hose with some type of fitting where you cut, lengthen & bond?

Remove the hose from the hose ends, procure a new longer length of hose from your FLAPS and reinstall. You can even use these heat shrink hose clamps for a true oem look.

To extend some of mine used high quality braided line to the original fitting and used a black earls clamp to dress it up, works great, have them in a few runs on mine. I did swap the sliver clamp inside it with a black one. Getting line off OEM fittings can be a pain

Looks like you have a couple of good suggestions on how to extend that hose. Good luck.

You are saying i can walk into a NAPA or Auto Zone and get more of the simple black hose? Or is it a specialty speed shop thing? How does one get the hose ends off with simple tools? Any videos or instructions on the web?

Exactly. Remove the hose ends and take the hose with you. If you prefer silicon hose or braided like Gixxerman posted above, you can order it on Summit or your site of choice. The easiest way to remove the hose ends is to take a sharp razor knife and slit the hose lengthwise starting at the hose end and carefully slitting to the point you clear the barbed end of the hose. The hose end should come right out but may need some slight help from a flat tip screwdriver inserted into the slit and twisted to open it up a bit.

You have the same PCV hoses coming from the valve covers just routed differently.

Yes I know. Making sure people know the configuration of the car is helpful

Just another approach - could you get a 90 degree elbow that would screw into the intake tube and then screw the existing male end into for the added reach? Then all you would have to do is rotate the existing hose end 90 degrees to pop on and not mess with that hose. I'm sure the thread on that would be a common size and maybe available at a local parts or hardware store?

Guys; It took 3 tries but I found a (what did Factoid call it "FLAPS?" Never heard of that acronym!) that had a "Nylon Fuel Line Repair Kit" with one disconnect already present. As I understand it, the off/on for the 2nd disconnect can happen with boiling water. Worth a try at least. I will update this thread when I do the job.

Thanks for the ideas!

What coupler are you using between the Throttle Body and AFE intake tube? That doesn't look like the AFE coupler to me and seems to be adding 3/4 to 1 inch of distance between where the intake tune would normally sit to the throttle body. Seems like the proper coupler would allow the PCV hose to fit properly.

Ninja; I'm using all the supplied aFe parts including the coupler. What I believe you see {3/4 to 1 inch of distance } is that I've recently replaced the stock intake manifold with that brand-new MSD Atomic AirForce manifold. The manifold must be pushing forward on everything. Meaning a new Nylon Fuel Line Repair Kit or something similar is the ticket. Thx!
